when will they be announcing where they will be departing from in australia. Is sydney airport being considered?

I think the NSW government in Australia should open up new Airport for low cost carriers with less facilities to reduce the Taxes. In my opinion Newcastle will be the most suitable place for new Airport as the South Sydney already has one.

Looks like the Gold Coast is first :-(
“The Gold Coast would be the first destination,” AirAsia X founder Tony Fernandes said. “Fares would range from as low as 90 ringgit to an average fare which would be in the 1900 ringgit ($647) mark return.” announced the Gold Coast would likely be its first destination from its Kuala Lumpur-base, with flights potentially from next month. Flights to Avalon, near Melbourne, could begin around March next year, No one's's missed out. We will be there,” Mr Fernandes said. “Avalon was actually the favourite but they've got to build their airport for international standards and they are doing that right now. “In terms of Newcastle, they've got to do some adjustments to their airport as well. news.com .au |

There is so much of traffic and demand. Why can't Sydney have two Airports? Or either move out the offices and industry to Gold Coast.

In the South East Asia...it is also well-known for Air Delaysia....

I have read that Goulburn would love the airport built there. Goulburn is close to Sydney and Canberra. |

Richard Branson negotiated landing slots for AirAsiaX in London Stansted, after announcing a 20% stake AirAsiaX. So, don't be surprised if Virgin Atlantic will get several landing slots at KLIA, allowing for them to fly one of the quickest routes from London to Australia via Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hence giving Richard both the low-cost no frills and the full-frills market on a money-making route.

The AirAsia X service from KLIA to Coolanggata will certainly be very popular for passengers from KLIA destined for the Goldcoast. The recent rerouting by Malaysia Airlines to fly from KLIA to Brisbane via Sydney has never been very popular to many regular travellers between the Goldcoast and KL.Thank you AirAsia and Tony Fernandes for making it all possible.
