I am interested in the local history of Mildura and regions during World War II. It was a terrible time everywhere....and this region of the state more than likely had its share of suffering at this time. The poll serves to provide a register of those who remember those times.

Who would've thought there was so much to growing and selling oranges! Seems a shame for the locals to lose what they had, but surely there's a better use for CSIRO resources.

The CSIRO is a government organisation that essentially is a shelter for post graduate academics, in an environment that is similar to their old school days. If you ever have the privelidge of walking through your local DPI or CSIRO as I have, you will find many leisure magazines, refrigerators stocked with alcohol and confectioneries, gadgets and toys, even game consoles. More government cars of just about every make and model you can think of, obviously supplied according to private preference. Not to discredit the research and important work that is undertaken in these institutions, but I thought politicians had it good. Check out the climatology department... Umm...is it going to be fine or wet next week? It is truly a sick joke...believe me. I was there just today.
