Sensationalist headline. The last I heard the flood death toll was not 100 but 10 ... as if that's not bad enough.

CBS reporting, can't expect anything else eh. Last I heard it was 10 also, nearly did a double flip when I saw "100" and wondered where the extra 90 came from since last night.

Have been hearing some very funny stories on the radio 'from the horses mouths' over the last few days... one was stockmen herding their cattle down the main street taking them to higher ground - can remember seeing that way back in the 50's flood. It just about drowned out the whole of Rocky as well. Hope somebody took pictures!

That's the one thing I just love about the Aussie spirit, no matter what's thrown at us we are resourceful and it takes a hell of a lot to lose our sense of humour. But look out once we do...

Do you remember a regular who used to write "Come in Spinner" as a feature series in the "Australasian Post"? A goldmine of tall bush yarns. He would have had a ball with this flood.

I guess you could say 10 if you count weather related incidents from november last year. There are 2 and possibly three dead in the current event.

Gosh that bought back memories. I used to buy the Pix and the Post every week - Bill Wannan was one of my favourites (of course!) and Mr. Wisdoms Whopper was a 'must do'... taught me much and it was very rare I missed out on completing the whole thing.

Yes, old Bill would have had a ball with this flood and I wish he was alive to give his spin on our present gov - it'd be a classic read I'm sure.

The first one I became aware of was a couple of weeks ago when a teenage girl got her ankle caught by something submerged and couldn't free herself before the water rose and drowned her. Since then there have been a few motorists or passengers swept away when cars became stranded and so on. 10 deaths was on all media last night.

Here's another serious matter that has started to receive media attention;

I used to especially like the cartoons that illustrated Wannan's yarns. They were classics in their own right.

Looks like all the media was wrong that night. Before the Toowoomba flash flood there were only two confirmed deaths. If it's a death toll you want, it will probably rise to over 50 today

Jesus H Christ you never give up do you!!! The media was NOT wrong. TWO people died in flood related incidents in MY town alone in the first week of the floods starting, a third died a week later in MY town alone. TEN deaths is the correct total before Toowoomba. The "official" death toll is now 20 with 72 still missing.

WHY do you continuously do this and what pleasure do you get out of it?

Weather events from November are not a part of this flood event. You're always wrong.

The only joy I will get from this is if you are swept away along with your cigarettes, your colloidial quackery and your horrible, inbred family.

Thanks for that, you just confirmed at least which one (amongst others) of the unregistered trolls you are. Deny it all you like but isn't it a shame that I'm not as easily fooled as others.

I deny it because it's not true. This is your same tactic every time you say something stupid. You are going to have to get used to the fact that I don't like you and neither do some other people.

We're not talking about isolated "weather events", in case you hadn't noticed it's an on-going vastly spreading flood event. When you spend your life with your own head stuck up your own arse you miss a lot. This "flood event" started with the rain in November, continued in December and is still going well - and the monsoon season has just started. Where TF do you think all this water came from? The last week of rain????? It takes many weeks to get from where it all started to where it finishes up and the way it's going that could be anywhere.

Now the monsoon trough has started north of Cairns and with the low up in the Coral Sea this "flood event is far from over. I can always live in hope that you will end up as a statistic.

That you can - but considering that I'm twenty years younger than you and I don't smoke cigarettes I wouldn't hold your breath - really I wouldn't, it might make you start hacking.

Oh yes it IS true. And hey, I got used to being disliked by you years ago and I consider it a compliment to be disliked by you, you're type of sarcasm superiority and derision comes easily to people like you and I'm sure enriches your totally inadequate life somehow - but I didn't realise there was some sort of popularity contest going on here. There are people here I correspond with but unlike you, they are *genuinely* nice people.

Who was talking about "popularity contests" ? You really do go into a funny defensive position of gibberish and lies.
