Does this mean the food shortage we've been warned about is happening already?

Cats and dogs have been 'disappearing' from neighbourhoods all over Australia, but the majority go missing from Melbourne and Sydney.

RSPCA staff are on Red Alert when Asians arrive to 'adopt' animals.

Hand hacked after catfight

A MAN'S hand was almost hacked off and another four people were in hospital after an alleged machete attack sparked by a fight over the ownership of a cat.

The incident happened on the outskirts of Gympie on Thursday night.

A man was in custody yesterday, another had been

released on bail and seven people were being questioned as police pieced

together the events that led to the bloody violence in the middle of Oak St just before midnight.

Two machetes, a hammer and a steering wheel brace are alleged to have been used in the fight.

Gympie police said yesterday they received multiple 000 calls about 11.30pm on Thursday from residents of the normally peaceful residential street.

They arrived at the scene to find five people lying on the ground, bleeding from various cuts.

A machete blade had gone through the bone of one man's arm.

The injured people were treated at the scene by police and ambulance officers

before being taken to Gympie Hospital. Gympie police officer-in-charge Snr Sgt Graeme Reeves said one man surrendered to police and was taken into custody.

Oak St looked like a battlefield yesterday, with police tape establishing a crime scene across the front yards of three homes, and blood all over the bitumen, in the gutters and on one driveway.

Pools of it were still visible in the grass on the other side of the street. Bloodied bandages and items of clothing also were strewn about.

A car parked outside one of the houses was dented and streaked with blood.

I didn't know that whites loved their cats this much! There was probably something sexual going on, as if it were some little white boy.

Firstly, two of the households are very close friends. Secondly, the attackers stole the cat, locked it in their house for 8 months, broke its leg when owners saw it and asked for it back, then attacked two households of families, a day after being told that they could keep the cat. Mentally ill? Maybe?..... And he is the most amazing cat in the world. He is like one of the kids. After being born under the kitchen table, he had to given CPR as he was not breathing. He is a member of the family. Part of the crew.

This story has certainly been cat-apulted to the front page. I wonder if the 5 individuals were cat-holic?
