In yesterday’s The Age opinion pages, Nick Dyrenfurth wrote that “the real issues go begging in the quest to ‘save’ Julian Assange”. One has to ask, however, is it not equally true that the real issues go begging in the quest to condemn him as well?

As an historian, Dyrenfurth knows well enough that eventually the Assange story will pass into history simply as ‘the Assange story’ while the discoveries made by Wikileaks will eventually bubble to the surface of history and paint its own picture; a picture that the likes of Dyrenfurth would prefer people not see for as long as possible.

And that’s what this is really all about as far as Dyrenfurth is concerned; it’s just bells and whistles covering up the myriad of crimes and wrongdoings of the West perpetrated in the first decade of the twenty-first century.

What I see in this particular episode is this.
Decency is a word in dictionary.
Democracy is a slogan.
Civilized citizen's civil courage is rare to find.
Investigative journalists duty is to expose the behind the curtain politics,
NYT which had published these leaks have no guts to put the facts in plain English.
Of course NYT had sent embedded loan slaves to cover the war in Iraq in search of hidden WMD.
Sorry : My eyes are flooded with tears

It is not the subject of two people who were responsible to expose the consummate consume-oriented careless cowardly civilized global politics.
One guy who is behind the bar was a patriotic person who had leaked the hidden facts.
This Australian born guy had simply given publicity and he was not yet charged but asked to answer the Sweedish security..
Hindu a conservative Daily had exposed the corrupt indian politicians hidden bank account.
What i wish to say is this.
Be brave and not to allow any hidden politics.
Transparency is the word i like most
