What sort of idiots does Roel ten Cate think Parkes voters are?

Look for the answer in his scribbles in the latest edition of the Champion Post.

Look at how he presents the total political destruction of Dawn Fardell at last week's election.

Note how the sleazy ex editor writes how he is gobsmacked by the result for Labor. See how he doesn't mention Fardell at this point.

Read on and see him quote Dawn's views on the way things went. Read how Dawn thought it was obvious people wanted Labor out.

Notice the lack of any mention of how obvious is was that Parkes people wanted Dawn out. Notice the lack of any mention of how badly she polled at Parkes and right throughout the Dubbo electorate.

Watch in future how the dopey duo of ten Cate and his boy Luke display their displeasure at anything and everything Troy Grant achieves as our local member.

Don't take a scrap of notice of them. The pair think we are so silly as to believe whatever they put to print.

Read the Champion Post for news about footy, weather and social events - leave the making of political comments to those who can spell truth and objectivity.

What would Bob Aitken think of the level his beloved newspaper has fallen to in recent years?

Not a word in the Champion Post about the council enquiry into the conflict between Bob Haddin's version of events and those of the excavators concerning the incident up near his place.

Any other newspaper would run the story as being in the public interest, because that is exactly what it is. Not the Champion Post, though.

Maybe the blokes who've been to look like liars could write to Luke Merriman, asking him to publish their side of the story.

Maybe Roel could look at it from his back verendah.

It is no surprise that Fairfax Media removed Mr. Luke Merriman from the Champion Post, no surprise whatsoever.

What is surprising is the fact that Bill Jayet will,in the short term at least, fill the gap.

Jayet carries with him much dead weight and is not likely to do anything to bring the Champion Post up to anything like the level of sophisticated journalism that Parkes' intellectually evolving population needs and expects.

Nor is it likely that this hopefully short term editor will once and for all remove the last traces of Roel ten Cate from the paper.

It is possible that Fairfax may do that task for him, a task unfortunately necessary if a new look town journal is to emerge from what is increasingly seen as a parochial, inward looking sheet intent on promoting the interests of the favoured few, both alive and dead.

Despite Bill Jayet being at the helm the Champion-Post is starting to look a tad like a real newspaper, reporting (some things) warts and all. The bit on the criminal fourteen year olds is an example.

Slowly but surely things are improving. ten Cate now appears only on the online version of the Champion Post, effectively neutered, and not about time. Parkes has a lot to thank this Topix site for, having been over the years a great light shining into happenings that the CP wouldn't touch with ten Cate in charge. Shows the good the internet can do when properly used to get to the truth.

It would take the wisdom of Solomon to decide the winner of the "Halfwit Of The Week Award" if the current contestants were Parkes Shire Council and Roel ten Cate.

The contest would turn on the issue of the parking officer with the victor being which of the clowns showing out as being the more ridiculous.

Parking is a problem in Parkes CBD, no doubt about that.

It is a problem because Parkes Council, the relevant authority, is scared to death of taking any proactive approach to solving it. Never mind that the problem costs business big money: never mind because enforcing the law might cost some councillors a few votes.

That is why, like cowards who sometimes dart out of the darkness, Council is going to "trial" enforcement of parking laws for four hours a week Never mind that the laws are in effect all of the time - shaking in its boots, Council will only do what is necessary and proper for a few hours a week out of fear of offending a few people, making the exercise almost pointless.

And watch the reaction from Kenny McGrath, true champion of those who would squeal the loudest if pinched.

As expected, punted Champion-Post editor Roel ten Cate has rushed headlong into the debate, making all sort of veiled threats about what may happen if Council goes ahead with its puny attempt to solve a very real problem.(Champion-Post 23rd. September).

What is really staggering about ten Cat's rant is how illogical it is, even by the standars the ex-editor displayed during his time with the CP.

The dunce argues that those who get booked will feel peaved, upset, badly done by, because others are not. He then trys to make a case that, because of this, parking rules should not be enforced in Parkes.

Does this mean that no law should prevail in the Shire? Does ten Cate say that police should not attend a brawl at the Commercial because some thugs may be arrested while others get away?

Truly, it's hard to see who would win the "Halfwit Award"

ten Cate wins the ""Halfwit of the Week" award with his comments in the CP about how the 500 BIG POLLUTERS will pay for their 'sins' through the carbon tax. Who does the goose think pays the BIG POLLUTERS for the stuff they produce and does he think those customers aren't the mugs who'll get stung for the money by the BIG POLLUTERS jacking up the prices they charge?

What a fool the man is.

Spot on. The next effort is basically on the topic of daughters Mel and Carmen shacking up with blokes in various parts of the world. No one in their right mind would put that out as the subject for a "column", least of all up at Parkes.

Would you believe it? ten Cate is coming back. Fairfax Media has let the bent lunatic out of the asylum and intends to let him run riot in the Champion Post's print edition. Why someone who harps on having "retired" is given oxygen in our local paper after all he got up to in the days of Wilson is anyone's guess. I hope Ronald R and one or two others keep up the criticism. Boy, isn't there heaps to criticise

other than people with IQs less than 80, who would read his stuff anyway? it's usually a rant about what he gets up to mixed with comments that make Parkes look like something out of the Beverly Hillbillies. watch out if he makes a run for council next year - we dont't need a Kenny McGrath with a pen.

Think of this. ten Cate gets on council at the 2012 election but continues to be published in the Champion Post. Then remember his corrupt behaviour in failing to tell the truth about events during Wilson's tenure as Parkes mayor. Would anyone believe the leopards spots will change? If past performance is the guide, he would spin the truth about council and its blunders so fast and hard a redback would turn green with envy. Simple solution to a foreseeable problem is to make sure he doesn't get the chance to repeat history. Don't vote ten Cate.

Daily Horoscope for June 17

Pisces

You're feeling much more cheerful and upbeat today, which comes as a relief after all your recent difficulties. You're also thinking along very inventive lines, which is great if you're trying to come up with a clever new solution to an old problem because you might manage to crack it. Even if you don't solve the entire quandary you'll get halfway there at least.
