YAY! Firstly, wedge it in for Aborigines, then extend it to EVERYONE on unemployment benefits! I think our government has been scoring a few good tries over recent couple of days!!

All the basic food and grocery items should be in plain packing, stamped with the giant letters, "GOVERNMENTAL WELFARE ASSISTANCE ONLY", so that the items won't be readily resold on the black market by the recipients in exchange for alcohol or drugs or cash.

Thats full blown socialism. If they go this far now just much further do you think they will go in the future??

The government has always controlled what benefits money you get - what this program, The Basics Card, does is control how they spend it. 50 to 75% of benefits goes onto card that pays for rent, electricity, gas, phone etc & balance can only be spent in certain stores on certain items - groceries, clothes etc.

How it makes them poorer is BS - it makes them more responsible because bills get paid, food gets bought & they have less money for smokes & grog and alcoholism does drop.
