1. NEVER EVER use the "click clack", no matter what the indian driver without a license tells you !!!!!!!!!! even if it costs a extra $5 to get to the next teller to get cash..just do it !
2. cash ore eftpost, thats what we like ! so if a indian / pakistan / student / "driver", even makes trouble with cash, you then know what he just tried to do to you !
3. by law, the authority card must be on the dashboard. save the number on your mobile and leve it there for the next 6 months, just incase.
4. by law the customer may choice the taxi. nobody can force you to get into the first car of the rank.
5. only take a taxi, if you know the shortest way your self, ore got a gps on ya ;-)
6. REMEMBER: most of this people sitting in taxis in melbourne, have never been and will never bee a taxi driver !
by the way...all this storys about melbourne taxi drivers....thats not a secret in taxi business. every australian taxi driver knows whats going on in melbourne.
politicians know about this big issue. but as i said before...corruption.

Definitely sounds like an ongoing scam. I javbe just discovered a charge for $53.35 from TAXI EXPRESS PAY ABBOTSFORD VIC.

I haven't been to Melb in June but I did get the 'EFTPOS not working' line and it had to be put through as a manual transaction.

Have raised a dispute and Commonwealth Bank is investigating.

I noticed the following entry on my credit card statement last week for $48.18 - METRO CABLIMOS NORTH MELBOURAU.

I haven't been to Melb since February this year which is when i used a taxi. Who knows how many of these I've missed, but i saw this one and reported it to Citibank.
They told me to contact the company to report it, but there's no way to contact them...bloody citibank, so i have to call them back on wednesday to see if they've done anything about it...

I was just checking my credit card statement tonight, and noticed a transaction for a taxi ride in Melbourne for the date of 22nd october, however I have been interstate since prior to that date, and have not used my personal credit card on a taxi trip in a long time, I rang the bank and they informed me of this fraudulent use, it was a charge of $48.18 to 'Arden taxi/limo north melbourne'
Make sure you check your statements,a nd let your friends and work colleagues know as well.

I was in Melbourne in November 2008 and have received 3 late charges from different taxi companies. One on 49$ from Arden taxis Limo NTH MELBOURNE in December, one on 46$ from TAXI EXPRESS PAY ABBOTSFORD in April 2009 and one more from Arden taxi Limo on 43$ in September 2009. I know that I used the credit card at least one time to get to the Melbourne airport and that amount was charged correctly but the remaining 3 costs are very suspicious because I do not recall using the credit card any other taxi trip and even if I might have I am sure I did not take trips that would cost that much.

I did contact my bank about this and they said it was possible that the transactions were delayed but after receiving another one in september and reading all this I will definitely insist on money back and a new credit card.

I've just checked my credit card balance and found a charge of $432.34 from METRO CABLIMOS NORTH MELBOURNE. Pretty amazing seeing as I was in Albury NSW at the time, my parents are in Nepal and my sister is in London. Hmmm, seems like some bastard taxi driver has ripped me off... I had an unknown charge from CAB A/C AUST MELB BRUNSWICK a few weeks back but thought nothing of it as it was small and it was about the time my parents left for Nepal, I thought it was their fare to the airport... now I'm not so sure. I'm so angry right now, more angry by the lack of cooperation from those who are supposedly in charge. Does anyone know the website for these companies? I want to give them a piece of my mind!

Network Taxi and Li Brunswick got me today for &70 for a cab I never caught in Melbourne. Had to cancel credit card and my bank is investigating, I would use cash from now on in cabs where possible.

I noticed a payment of $28.86 was debited to me credit card on 11/11/09 by GOLD SILVER TAXIS BRUNSWICK. I had left the country a few months prior to this date.

This would have been from a manual docket about 3 months earlier in Melbourne.

I have just been charged on my credit card by Network taxis and Li Brunswick for $57.09 and have not used a cab in Melbourne since July. I vaguley remember using my credit card in a cab and had the "eftpos isnt working" trick played on me. After reading all of these blogs, now I know why.I have had to cancel credit cards as a result.
