If you city doogooders went & lived in remote NT for a while rather than one day visits you'd see what good has come from things such as income garnishing (Basic Card). I lived in arnhem land for 18 months before the card came in & 2 years after & the turnaround in their diet, health & less alcohol was incredible. The idea should be implemented for all on welfare payments.

"The idea should be implemented for all on welfare payments."

Ah! rich people don't need welfare...they can hire cooks dieticians and the like, they don't need government interference...what is one more dead rich guy...we are talking about helping those people in a low socio economic state, that need it so that that don't become more of a problem than some of them already are....

Yes, it should be implemented for all welfare beneficiaries.

Govt handouts should come with obligations and restrictions on their use to ensure they are used for what it is intended for and stuff the bleeding hearts!

welfare doesn't work
it is stolen money
only a small percentage goes to where it is supposed to go.
welfare creates poverty and slums that is its purpose
learn a skill and be self employed instead
