It is a nice area, but is very rural. If you are working in the City, you should expect a 1hr commute each way.

I'd like to relocate permanently to Darwin. What are the employment prospects? I'm a Registered Nurse with 14 years of Psychiatric nursing experience. Before that, I worked as a Paramedic for over 20 years.I'm not looking to get rich, just enough to get by and enjoy Austrailia.

Lonewolf, If you want a job in nursing, you will have no problem in NT. In particular mental health or if you wanted recruit as an Ambo.

Google PFES and have a look at your options and I would also have a look at NT Govt Jobs. Again, no probs getting work in Nt as a nurse as they are much needed.

I went up for a look and loved it, I have applied for the Police Force and am going off to the assessment day in NSW on 14th Jan,(they do interstate assessment days) NT police offer free housing to their recruits and relocation and flight cost etc for you and your family. They also offer paid training and great incentives. Just a thought for you. Recruitments for the May 28th 2012 end 16th Dec 2011, I know u posted ages ago but incase you hadn't yet relocated Im giving you my thoughts.

I found Durrack, farrar, Roseberry, Palmerston nice areas and even Humpty Doo ( a bit further out) if you wanted to live semi rural. Good luck all.
