this is really sad and i believe that if someone to be blame for this should be the GOVERNMENT! i believe that this boat is more than 20 years old by looking at the photos of it. Why would they bring such boat to kill many Tongans? Where's the people's money ? I wonder what would be their next move? This is completely shamefull to be honest. We havent heard anything about what happen here in Tonga we have been call the News reporters for some further details but they never give us some informations. What are they hiding?

I wonder why this isn't a major news story here considering how close Tonga is?

You may be right there Uili. However, if my memory serves me correctly, sea transport is the responsibility of the Ministry of Marine (Paul Karalus). Lupeti Vi's ministry is the Ports Authority.

If any fingers are going to be pointed, I'd just be looking in the Prime Minister's direction. He knew darn well the darn boat wasn't seaworthy, for God's sake, it was just a lake ferry and not to be used on the open seas...at least that's what it looks like.

Greed breeds a lot of things, don't it?

Has anyone started a fund raiser for the families? If so, that would be a great help.

I guess the local sharks had a nice dinner!
Oh well. They still helped out some endangered marine species.

One should have a sense of humour! That's especially important in the face of tragedy.

YOU REALLY THINK THIS IS FUNNY???!! HOW DARE you come on in here seeking attention and disrespect, dishonor the memory of these people who have died AND trample upon the feelings of those families and friends left behind... who are grieving this tragic loss!
Get your boorish self out of here you attention seeker! Your are a PATHETIC excuse for a human being!

I'm neither disrespecting nor am I seeking attention. On the other hand, your holier than thou attitude indicates to me a need for attention!

This almost sounds as if you were a relative, of which I'm quite certain you're not.

Especially if it is not YOUR tragedy. I doubt the families can see your humour here and I don't blame them.

So, unless you are a relative, you have no right to feel sorrow for a tragedy?

Any family here? Say "aye!" Ahhh... just as I thought. Nobody here. I'm pretty sure they're busy checking the shoreline for any survivors. No offence.
