Unfortunately not all VORTs are marked to a particular standard. You may get a tester who fails you for blinking at the wrong time (slight exaggeration, but they really are that anal); or you may get a tester who is very friendly and would only fail you if you did something really bad or dangerous. I had the anal tester and was unfairly failed. It is a TERRIBLE system that allows hopeful young people to get ripped off by testers who are just interested in making more money. I myself was part of this scam and I am very angry. Just be very careful who you choose and go for a big company, not a private tester.

Agree.
In my case he didnt even let me set my mirrors. He was in hurry like he has bunch of ants in his pant. It seems he was deliberatly trying to make me do some mistakes. He kept on pushing me,'Common man I cant spend entire day with you.... You got to do your reverse parking in 1 minute.' He made me so upset and I forgot to turn on my indicator while geting my car out while reverse parking. thats it. He got his chance. My test was at transmere, started from 172 Glynburn Rd.
My advise is it doesnt matter who you do training with. However, Make sure you choose friendly examiner.

I have to agree that the VORT system is a sham. I wonder if there is any oversight into how they conduct the tests.
It has an inherent conflict of interest. It shouldnt' be done by private parties at all.

i had my lessons from adelaide driving academy. they are a worst driving school in adelaide. they are more intrested in money making. even if you are perfect driver they keep insisting you take driving lessons. and if you refuse to take it they will fix a test for you and for sure they will fail you

My tester is also a total scam. He kept urging me to hurry up nearlly from the beginning. So I had to speed up, and he failed me because I apportched a turn too hurry. I would never do that in the nomal situation, it's all because he repeatlly said "come on it's too slow" His name is Jim in Adelade.

I propose we should expose these anal's name on the internet. Also let people who are the friendly tester. Otherwise people would never know who is anal and who is fair and friendly tester.

If they want to rip us off, we should break their business!!!

Its been a few weeks since i did my last test passed today though. Give Tony Loughhead from instinctive driving a call if you want to be instructed perfectly, 0404808663. my advice is MAKE SURE your 100% ready cozz the vort test and the examiners are very strict.

If you are a confident person go for it if not just wait and take your time it is better than wasting all that money. I went with drive excel and i shouldn't have. They were never free and there was a 2month period where i had no lessons at all because they weren't free and wouldn't work past lunch etc. When I went for my p's it was difficult to find time again and over priced. Do not waste your time with excel.

I did CBT with MAS driving school.I feelt the better system to go through is CBT. They teach you everything and go step by step so we have clear understanding of what is the criteria and the instructor Mano explained very clearly step by step.I was very impressed. I would recommend you go with him. His number is 0422782097.

I agree with most of you.... I have 15 years of driving experience in Europe, and 2 years in Australia and guss what?..... The examiner failed me .... I thought that she is jocking.... but she wasn't and after 17 years of driving experience without any accident, she advised me that I can't drive..... unbelivable.

I agree with 'annoymous' that Exel Drive is the worst. I am a good driver, and was told by my instructor that it would take me at least 14 lessons to get my licence by log book (when in reality it took me two lessons with a different company), and that I am too good a driver so i might as well do the vort. So I did, with his friend who was in a car from the 80s and he failed me! I could feel him putting his foot on the dual brakes when approaching traffic lights and and took marks off because he said that I stop too short; and half the time wasn't watching where I was looking and marked that I didn't chech my mirrors. So angry!!

I had an American or Canadian called Denise in North Adelaide. If you ring and get her, just hang up.She failed me for only indicating for four seconds before moving off.I have driven 28 years without a ticket or accident, but she told me I needed to take a block of lessons. They have a vested interest in failing you. This method is flawed. Also it should be video taped to stop these scams. The vort is a rort
