The Voluntary Euthenasia Bill is the latest of a series of bills that provide for terminally ill patients to choose to end their life. No Bills have yet succeeded. This Bill was narrowly defeated in the House of Assembly on 14 June 2012 by 22 votes to 20, but further bills are likely to be introduced in the future. Of particular cause for concern in the Bill was;
1. There was no requirement that family members be notified before a person's life was taken. Imagine being informed after the event about the death of a member of your immediate family.
2. The cooling-off period was only 48 hours.
3. The Bill claimed to have safeguards against "duress", but the provisions to prevent euthansia where the elderly felt pressured to end their life were not deemed adequate.
As you approach your "Golden Years" you might do well to find out where your Representatives in your District stand on this issue. Further, you may also want to write or call you Representatives before they get just those three more votes they need to control your destiny.
Think about youself before your family sells off all your hard earned possessions and sends you off to some Black and Gold nursing home. A home where your life might be at the mercy, or lack thereof, some moody nurse or orderly that think your quality of life might be spent and your bed might better serve the next oldie whose family is waiting in line.

Mercy Killing sounds all good and well until it's you in a bed somewhere with Government Bureaucrats from some Quality of Life Board deciding whether your life is still worth keeping or not.

As Polies debate this issue, now is the time to make your opinion known to them.

Hey Sydney Siders,

Listen, I'm in the same boat however, I have managed to percure some medication that will have you gone. I may have some left and would like to help. Has anyone thought of a massive Heroin overdose. It'll do it every-time!!

Once again it's time to make your opinion known to the Polies about your feelings on this issue. Remember today they're talking about Grandma, tomorrow they will be talking about Mom or Dad, eventually the Polies will be talking about you!

I don't like the idea of it, I mean there is such thing as a miracle!
