Everyone that has commented on how DAMAGING this will be is right on the mark! Change is definitely a horrible thing! More jobs and revenue for the city is definitely going to kill the Moreno Valley infrastructure.

Our high schools have some of the highest drop out rates around.
Moreno Valley has a high crime rate.
Our businesses are a joke, and we're losing more and more every day to Riverside (yup folks, all those businesses on the other side of Day St are considered Riverside, not Mo Val).

And to top it off, people complain so much about how "ghetto" Moreno Valley is, how unsafe and how it's been declining every year....and yet again, change comes and people automatically close their doors.

Unfortunately it's not the "pollution" or "Sketchers HQ" that will kill Moreno Valley...it's the closed minded people that hate change and just sit around and complain.

On second thought, way to go Iddo. Thanks for thinking outside the box and trying to bring some type of change to this city!

The Press Enterprise has an obligation to check these numbers. Just because the developer says its true doesn't mean they are true. He gave money to Ashley, so anything he says is suspect.

MV is not Sketchers 'headquarters'. It is a distribution center where the shoes, made in foreign countries, will be received and distributed to retalilers. And anyone who thinks "high level' jobs will be coming to this warehouse is just delusional. the low paying, part time jobs will be filled by temporary workers just as most warehouse jobs are. And that is only if the workers currently living in Ontario don't transfer to the new facility. Drive by the building and see the very large number of truck bays. They will each be visited many times a day by big rigs, fouling our air and clogging our streets and freeway. Get ready folks... one more reason to leave Moreno Valley!

He's got to be kidding or laughing all the way ... "the crown jewel of commercial development in our city." This statement from a man who was recalled from MV city council. The areas that are trying to rid their neighborhoods of add'l warehouses and diesel truck fumes/traffic can breath a sign of relief. I guess they're not worried about losing these "fantasic" jobs. I urge each of you to drive into MV from the 60/east and see the "warehouse" welcome to our city. Then imagine this spreading south of Skechers to Alessandro.

The statement that there was initial opposition from the city's planning commission and residents is misleading. I'm sure the planning commissioners who voted against the project and the citizens who opposed it haven't changed their minds. The funding going to city council elections is a travisty.

Supervisor Ashley was given about $40,000 in the form of political contributions by Highland Fairview/Benzeevi. It is no wonder he says only nice things about Benzeevi's toxic diesel truck warehouse. Marshall Scott was Recalled by more than 60% of Moreno Valley voters because of his connection with develpopers. It appears he has not changed.

The construction workers are mainly for outside Riverside County. The few low-paying, unheathy toxic diesel warehouse jobs will be going to their present Ontario, Ca employees. It would be nice if they would come clean these facts instead of lying to reporters and the public.

Traffic will become even more of a nightmare and we will be sucking in toxic diesel emissions. Think of all the toxic diesel emissions which will happen if Bezeevi builds his dream of 35 million square feet of warehousing. Think of the traffic problems and the asthma our children will develope as a result of 10,000's of toxic diesel trucks in and through our city.

If project is moving ahead so fast why is there no recruitment effort gering up now?

"Robots will move merchandise around the factory" said David Weinberg, Sketchers' Chief Operating Officer, per LA Bus Journal, Nov 12, 2007. Obviously they won't need as many NEW workers at the NEW facility.

"The developer, Highland Fairview, is expected to pay Skechers up to $2.2 million to rent alternative facilities because the building won't be completed this month (January 2009) AS REQUIRED UNDER THE LEASE".(Per PE, 1/6/09, p. C1)

Get ready Mo Val for unemployment to become a thing of the past!!!

Remember Iddo Benzheevi's promise of 2500 new jobs.

Does anyone in their right mind actually believe any national/international company is going to make Mo Val its headquarters? The only type of a facility requiring more physical space than 40 football fields is a distribution center, in this case the consolidation of 3 existing locations currently in the IE.

Watching how the price of Skechers newest product, the "shape up shoe" has dropped through the floor (gone from $100/pair to $40/pair) one has to wonder what the future holds for this business.

The # of potential jobs has been going down, down, down ........ is this why Highland Fairview/Iddo felt the need to buy the Moval Council?

And that City staff can't keep up? Maybe because so many layoffs? And Highland Fairview think it would be better with Co's "contract workers"? PLEASE! Only because Iddo thinks these contract workers would be working for him and not what is best for the City!!!!!!!!!

"First tenant: Skechers North American operations headquarter"

Manhattan Beach is their current HQ. Why trade the beach environment for MoVal? Their executives and core staff must live near the present HQ so why commute 2 hours from there to here? Maybe MoVal will be their DISTRIBUTION headquarters. Then there would only be a 45 minute commute from their Ontario warehouses.

It has been the corruption by Moreno Valley politicians with developers from all over that has doomed our city. Marshal Scott is a wonderful representative of that, with his recall, because of such a lack of real vision and honesty. Iddo is no different that Buck Johns or other developers that previously ran this town through money money money to the politicans to get what they wanted the way they wanted it.

I'll give you ignorant......Try this on for size Dosha.

I firmly believe that corruption and dishonesty are SO INGRAINED in Mexican culture...that it is difficult if not Impossible to 'shake' these deplorable human traits.

As Uncheked and rampant Illegal Immigration takes its toll on California... The class of human being that we get immersed into our society is a total Grab Bag.

You just don't know who the hell is coming into California...NO idea what attrocities they committed in the Cartel Run Violent World of Mexico.

I also realize there are good Latinos here for the right reasons... And what is sad, is that unfortunately due to such OVERWHELMING Bad examples all over this county...
---------they make it rough for good honest Latinos trying their hardest to be stand up American Citizens.

As Mexico wages it's POPULATION WAR with California....which is what is clearly happening and you are a fool to deny it... The culture and the vile habits, arrogance, ignorance, shadiness, corruption etc take a foot hold here.
What we end up losing is American Values...due to such a Large Influx of a culture that doesn't value Education, doesn't value or even COMPREHEND American Diversity....

All these people know is what the Racist Indoctrinators in our destroyed school systems and the corrupt hatefilled Mexicans back home teach them...

and more and more it is " This land is yours, Americans, or even more Racistly-'white people' are evil and are the cause of your suffering"

That is what they are taught, and that is the prevailing mindset more and more.

I grew up here, was born here, had Latino friends growing up, and can remember how years ago, the immigrants from Mexico MADE AN EFFORT to become American people and to ASSIMILATE.

That notion is now lost.

SO much of this state now resembles Mexicos Slums...that these people have essentially IMPORTED Their Poverty Culture here....and replaced American Society and Values with it.

And every day it spreads more and more.

Marshall Scott of Moreno Valley committed conflict of interest and campaign reporting violations. As
councilmember in 1985, Mr. Scott cast votes to
approve development projects in Moreno Valley that
were likely to significantly benefit a source of income.

Mr. Scott’s violations involved his votes to approve a plan for a 76-unit apartment being developed by Sykes Construction Company, and to approve a 48-lot subdivision being developed by Sykes Enterprises Corporation.

Mr. Scott had a financial interest in the decision
requiring disqualification because of income received from Albert Sykes, a 50% partner in the apartment project and sole owner of the company developing the subdivision. The councilmember had received $570 in insurance commission fees from Mr. Sykes within 12 months of the first decision and another $1,600 in commission fees within 12 months of the second decision.

The campaign reporting violations for Mr. Scott
involved his failure to properly cumulate at least a dozen contributions received in 1985 and 1986, which individually totaled $99 or less.

NOTE THE NAME; SYKES.

I will be back to fill you in on that name shortly.

To learn why Albert Sykes is\was important in some of the issues regarding this project clink the following link (but don't stop there, look around. There is more).

http://mvgordie.com/special-iddo-benzeevi-hig...

Oh, and BTW, Iddo Benzeevi, Albert Sykes, Richard Kruger and Eduardo Salas all once shared the same Address. It was 24525 Alessandro Blvd., Moreno Valley, CA.

Did I mention that Albert Sykes, and Marion Ashley were also connected with Germania Construction, a major player at March Field?

Germania and Bob Wolf help make up the team as did Harley Knox. I thought Sykes had died and it is now his son who carries on the fleecing of Moreno Valley?

Dasha,

Yes Mr. Sykes is now deceased, however I am shedding light on a far more complex issue when it comes to the overall scheme of thing in Moreno Valley today.

Here are some documents to shed more light on what it is I am referring.

Here you can see that it was Skechers who wanted this building built, and sought out a location, and a developer to build THEIR project. Paid for by them in all aspects of development, construction, and equipping.
