honestly they are very powerful machines with almost hair line triggers, that easily go off, but having one in the head around your girl does sound like a sick way to show off. Families (not sure of theirs) dont always have all the answers either, guess we will wait and see what evidence comes out and history of individuals.

Some people will never be able to handle firearms. It's like cleaning your carpet with gasoline, if your that stupid, its just a matter of time.

The AK47 is an assault weapon!! How and why did this person has the weapon in the first place!! I'm sure he received it by legitimate means and that it is properly registered. HA!!

I collect weapons such as these... 2 ak's and several M4's and Ar 15's

LOL...
A. they do not have "hair line" triggers as these are typically sloppy weapons. You can have a featherweight adjustable comp. trigger installed for around 800 bucks... but no... they do not come with hair triggers. Powerful... any gun is powerful... and that has nothing to do with it

At the range they were at, a 22LR would easily penetrate and do maximum damage. Why? the 7.62x39mm round that the ak fires, pushes a relatively high velocity. This means that an AK round will almost always pop a clean little hole in the target. Unlike the 5.56x45mm (aka .223 rem) that the M16/AR15/M4 fire, the 7.62x39 does not tumble, key hole, or otherwise inflict critical damage. Most of its energy in not displaced inside of the target.

He killed her... alledgedly... or was showing off. Accidents happen and as long as he was 18 and has no prior convictions of DV or Felonies, he had every right to own it.

Dear super kool moron, there is a large number of responsible adults that have a hobby based on firearms or military. There are many different aspects of firearms and most people concentrate on one or two disciplines. I prefer distance acceracy(sharp shooting) with high power bolt action rifles, the ak-47 does not fall under that catagory so I don't care about their ballistics. It is a very complex and interesting HOBBY. Hobbies are ment to expand your life. I am sure by your address of Lithonia, Ga. that your hobby is most likely standing on a street corner and bouncing a basketball. If anyony needs a "life" it would be you. The majority of firearms collectors/hobbiest are responsible law abbiding adults. Looser thugs like anyone living in that region of Atlanta are a part of the few that ruin firearms for all of us.
Chances are you probably are the one that needs to get a life. WORD

what makes an Ak-47 so much worse than any other gun? could it be the media who can never be accused of thinking but only passing uneducated judgement. would it of been looked at differently if the girl was shot by a Ruger Mini 30 which shoots the same round as the Ak-47 (7.62x39)
The thought that an Ak-47 is evil is juvenile. how can an inanimate object be evil? thats just silly. This was a shooting accident but since it was an evil AK-47 this kid will get persicuted for it.
does it really matter how big the bullet was when you are dead? A .22 rifle will kill you just as fast ak a 7.62x39. just because demented people (terrorists) choose the AK-47 does not make the gun a bad gun. what if the terrorists choose the m-16 rifle, would it then become the evil gun? this whole mindset towards the AK-47 is anything but well thought out. remember that the Ak-47 is an inanimate object and is guilty of nothing. Go after the irresponsible individuals that use these guns for the wrong reasons but stop blaming the gun itself because thats just plain stupidity. if the girl would have been shot with an m-16 what would be the outcome? The AK-47 possesses no more kill capability than the Ruger Mini 30. I will never understand the diluted mindset that the media and the ted kennedys of the world possess when it comes to the Ak-47.
They are like a bunch of children who have never givin life any real thought. this was a damn shooting accident and the kid should not receive any additional punishment because it was an AK-47.

UGGG wrote:(How do you accidently shoot someone with an Ak-47). what a mindless statement. Are you saying that all Ak-shootings should be determined a dileberate act even if it was an accident? Oh, I see, The Ak is the only gun in the world that would never be involved in a shooting accident. The DA
would love to have a shallow thinker like UGGG by his side, thats just what the judicial system needs. more minds that work towards disolving the constitution. Are you going to law school? you can be a class action lawyer that defends any and all who have been demorilized by an AK. Your ad could say: If you or a loved one has ever seen an AK-47, Held an AK-47 or are just intimidated by the appearance of the Ak-47 you may be eligibile to participate in the class action suit against Mikhail Kalashnikov, The evil doer behind this weapon of mass distruction. Give me a break. sad thing is, is that I peobobly just gave some snake trial lawyer an idea.

I've known this young man since he was a child. He is a good kid with parents who love him and like it was said earlier, it was a stupid accident but a damn ACCIDENT nonetheless!!

What would give the family any indication that this was intentional when he just took the girl to prom! Wally was raised with a lot of love and is not a damn gangsta. Call it what it is a damn accident, and stop trying to crucify him!

I can promise you the young man is extremely intelligent and would not even comprehend the apparent trailer trash language you're apparently speaking, and much too intelligent to ruin his life with an attempted murder. I'll wait while you get your dictionary.
