Wrong info about the size of congress being determined by population. The size of Congress is stable, the number of 2 senators per state is set by the Constitution. Population determines the number of members of the House of Representatives a state has by the population of the state, but the total number of the members in the House is stable. Only the number of Congressmen in a state fluctuates with the population of a state, so if a state gains in population it gets more members in the House and if a states loses population the reverse is true. States in the South have been increasing in the number of Congressmen representing them because of the migration of the population to the South. We are seeing a migration away from California by registered voters, and the next census might cause the loss of congressmen in California. Many of these leaving California have moved to Texas for lower taxes and less regulations.

You are correct about the spending. All spending bills start in the House Ways and Means Comm. Many Americans are upset with House Congressional leaders for the funding of obama's socialist programs especially obamacare.

Texas is pretty cool. Decent place to thrive if you know what you're doing, I'm not too keen on the heat though or the pesky property taxes when I decide to retire. Also potholes in public roads and infrastructures that could fall on my head at any moment. I can see why people would move to Georgia though. A job in retail can't pay rent around here unless you live where it smells like garlic or whatever produce they grow out in the wildlands. I know quite a few who moved to Atlanta. Decent jobs giving people pedicures with decent 200k homes. Not really my style of living though.

The plump little creature huddled in the darkest corner of its cage. As usual, it was gorging itself on bananas and peanuts and didn’t seem to notice that the belt on its gaily colored red tunic was so tight that it was now cutting into its ever expanding stomach. The floor of its cage was littered with banana peels and peanut shells and the tassel on its brightly colored fez had bits of food debris sticking to it. Its eating frenzy was suddenly interrupted by a sharp yank on the leash about its neck. It leapt to its feet and grabbed the little tin cup that lay at its side and began rushing furiously and aimlessly about its cage, screaming obscenities in all directions. A few yards away, holding the other end of the fat little monkey’s leash, sat Lighteredknot. He laughed quietly as he watched the foolish little monkey’s tirade. He loved yanking on the crazy little creature’s leash. He always got such a chuckle watching it race about its cage, aimlessly hurling obscenities and inane comments at shadows and imagined adversaries.
He laughed quietly so as not to interrupt its delusional rant and whispered,“Dance little circus monkey. Dance for your master.”

I not only enjoy the humor but the wisdom and logic in your posts. I have determined by experience with them that obese monkeys lacking any mental acuity are the easiest to train like the nut from California. Bless his little heart.

Thanks. You do a great job of making the portly little bozo your fool on a daily basis. None of us has any idea why he doesn’t realize he’s outclassed and give up. You’ve been playing him for the hapless fool that he is forever, but it just doesn’t seem to sink in. Perhaps he’s cognitively impaired. Keep up the good work.

To all posters:
If you get on this forum to just complain about what needs to be done or who needs to do it or who is wrong about specific details to some argument,
then I have pity on you.

If you do not like the exploitation of your taxes, then create some incentive for tax abusers to work.
Think of a business, you yourself, can create to put people to work, since the govt seems to have little interest in doing so.

Empower your public domain, damn it!!!!
Stop bitching and make the public domain more tolerable by investing in it and giving yourselves a chance to profit from it by starting up a small business to put folks on ebt to work.

Even if it only employs 5 people, you are doing something to resolve the issue instead of complaining about it on Topix, which will do very little to resolve the issue you despise.

That is, unless you enjoy acting as a complaining hatemonger...Well???? Are you one????

I did this long before you suggested it, have you? I own farms which require workers. Tell us what you are doing to put people to work. Telling about obama's socialist spending to create non-productive jobs and his welfare programs is not "bitching", but exposing obama's incompetence with true facts.

Pity? You have none. What you have demonstrated here is loathing, not pity.

I like your solution though, it's the way America USED to work. But you're too late with this suggestion. Small business is suffering from the worst lack of government support in decades. The ACA is discouraging small businesses and encouraging a nation of people with part-time, no-benefit jobs.

If you think we can benefit people by continuing to give them regular handouts I suggest you quit your job and try to get those handouts yourself. See how long you can stand having a totally dead-end lifestyle that's driven by the whims of bureaucratic rules.

And I am not suggesting that ONLY blacks are affected by this. Not by a long shot. Wanting to see an end to "reformed" welfare is not racist. Unless YOU think that only black people are using it.

House passes more restrictive food stamp bill cutting food stamp access, requiring passing drug test to qualify for food stamps, and people able to work must work to get food stamps. Many taxpayers say it is not restrictive enough.

I have no issue with assistance...but I do have a problem with total dependence.

We should decide what an acceptable wage is, and assist folks to that wage. Meaning, your ass gets up and goes to work....anywhere, and we will make up difference. No job equals no assistance.

Then, states need to be prepared to employ the lazy ones who claim they cannot find work. Fine, show up at this state park and you can paint, cut grass, work in the park until you find a job. Or...clean roadways....

No free ride...you want help....earn it. You wanna be lazy....dont wanna help yourself.....die of starvation.

Wouldnt be long lazy asses would find their way off the couch...

Did I mention random drug screen....pop positive, you lose 50% assistance till next clean screen. 3 positives...lose benefits for 1 year.

I applaud your thoughts even though you are more generous than mine. Years of assisting deadbeats have led us to the point of where were are now. I have become hardened to the idea of assisting anyone able to work that won't with out kids. This was the law until obama changed it with his presidential order. Yesterday the news reported there are 2 jobs available for every unemployed person which reveals the deadbeats do not want to work, so let hunger drive them to see jobs. In my past I found hunger as well as my pride to be a great motivator for me to work. Government hiring people will only add to the problems we now have, a government so large we can't afford it and to large to manage. A person who spends a dime of assistance (our tax) money on drugs is not hungry so they shouldn't receive a dime from any of our tax money until they can pass a drug test, the simple choice is theirs. Anyone receiving assistance for children should be sterilized which will help them escape the democrat plantation.

Good for you. Continue to put Americans to work.
No need for me to prove to you because I do not currently put people to work, but am in the near future.

Point being made is that if you consider yourself right wing, then stop complaints and take initiative within your own power.

Although, be realistic in knowing what limits your power have.
If you believe you can increase your influential power of this subject at hand, then, simply produce some personal constituents or representatives to take some congressional seat who agree with you...but NOT via voting. I'm sure many seats were not filled based on the biannual public popular vote.

Then afterwards, place forth the initiation of a "Congressional Ethics Committee" to assure your constituent does not become a trader. Other than that, complaining is useless unless you have great influence in statute development. And in this process NO ONE IS TO BE TRUSTED throughout the 2+ years. Next, line up an 'army' of lobbyist for individuals that share your view to counteract with the filibusters against your view. If you want a left-right wing civil war, then take this in consideration. You might get a little further.

All that we do is picket and not enough plundering to follow up with the complaints. Hopefully, no one will get hurt or killed during the plundering if you and your constituents decide to take this action. If so, in come the National Guard. Sounds militant? Oh well, might as do the revolution the old school way...or just sit and bitterly complain.

Be reminded, that you may put a few things that you endear at risk if you perform my suggestion. Hmmf...for this reason, is why folks today only picket and complain: it's easier to bitch than to risk.

Government simply caved in on its own nation. Let's take a few million people in America for a ride on the double-dutch bus to Ontario...or better yet, Dubai.

Tyranny of the King strikes once again, but no where to run or hide from its bureaucracy of fakes.

So what you have stated is the failure of the fed since it cuts the support to individuals trying to escape the risk of being a receiver of govt handouts. Hmmm...more dependent citizens in the long run?

This means residence of the local sector need to represent their own selves since this doom is now pending: give the states more power than the national government so that the local will have a greater influence of preferred statutes.

No sarcasm either. Arizona proposed the overruling of federal law, so other states should join the 'trend'. Maybe go in the route that the USSR did to make its Independent States, but the U.S version would be based on left wing, right wing divisional governance.

Think...no more bipartisan proxies or unwanted reformations will exist or contend against the people within this Commonwealth.
This wouldn't be an insane idea, nor would the transition be difficult, since many say the U.S. has now became a more socialist nation.

(Though, it would be interesting to see how splitting up the national debt with this Commonwealth would occur if this could happen.)
