Ummm.. It is based on poverty levels, and the number of people in your household... My 15 year old brother lives with me and I have 2 children. Their father works all day while I take care of the babies, clean house, and attend college online. He makes about 1400 a month and we get food stamps. Our rent is 350. So please don't speak nonsense about stuff you know nothing about. Foodstamps are a supplement income for groceries too, not the main source. We have to spend money on food every month as well. The government does it like this because they try and ween you from their assistance. Everyone, just quit hating on foodstamps, cause guess what? I have paid into them too, I have had jobs, they took taxes out.
And to the first post, a lot of people sell their foodstamps for .50 cents on the dollar to pay bills, and yes, sometimes to buy drugs, can't argue there are people like that out there. This brings me to another point, I strongly believe people should be drug tested to make sure they just don't spend all their money on drugs, they are more likely to abuse the system. But anyhow, when you see someone in a nice car with an EBT card, they probably bought foodstamps from somebody, or it's tax time and their nice car will get repo'd in a few months...
Hey,Hit me up! Do you know anyone with any stamps for sale?

Your convoluted opinions have failed you. Here is a link in which Jessie Jackson admits obama is the Food Stamp President and he praises obama for this title.
We have never had as many people on food stamps as now.

Thank goodness those in the Department of Agriculture know that Yogi Bear won't file a 1040EZ for this coming tax season.

You seem somewhat sensible so I know you agree with them, right?
Because your comparison seems a bit off if so, man.

Im tired of all the "single moms" whining about how "hard it is". And how "nobody knows what its like to walk in their shoes..." you weren't thinking about "how hard it will be" when you were laid on your back with your legs up.....so we don't wanna hear it now. I don't wanna pay for your bad decisions, the bad circumstances YOU CREATED for yourself. If you can't afford your children, DON'T HAVE THEM! Your choice, your problem, your future. Get your hands out my wallet! The "gubment" isn't giving you money, WE are!

I agree, if they have the babies let them pay for them, not us. We are only responsible for ours. If you play, you pay.

Don't make this a race issue. If a person abuses the system, kick them out of the system. I don't work and pay taxes so someone can take their family to six flags, buy tobacco, alcohol and go to strip clubs! These purchases can be tracked and traced back to who was issued the card. This should stop NOW! Those of you that want something done, contact Sen John Albers office. He said he was going to do something about it.

Increase the chance for single moms to get a job: whenever you choose to switch employers, don't apply to that job.

Hmmm, but you need money for yourself. But you can't be selfish, that's a 'bad decision' to take care of your own by using a resource that is available.
Govt money is available, or should I say, OUR money is available.

Again, that's a cycle of this U.S. society.
I don't wanna share the road or metro train with thousands of people during rush hour. I don't want to offer my seat to a woman on the train who should have made the decision to live somewhere where her place of employment is within walking distance.

I don't want to wait in line at a bank or McDonalds when I want what I want. I don't want people to perpendicularly walk in front of me or have to circumvent around slow walkers when I'm on a busy sidewalk. They should have made the decision to walk on the next city block.

I don't want to hear women's babies crying on that damned train either. They should have made the decision to use the pill because I don't wanna hear that screaming balloon yell his/her lungs out.

"I don't want to have to partake in the same resources everyone else is using."

"I want immunity, damn it!"

Then it hit me...
I'M IN A SOCIETY OF 330+ MILLION PEOPLE!!!!

Aghhhhhhhh!!!!

(Get the drift?)

Funny how some political promises seem attractive before inauguration but never seem to manifest fully while in office.
Not to say that a politician may be a hypocrite, but there are those who understand the other side of the fence.

Hope the soon to be senator had never been to a strip club. Local media would eat him alive and exploit him.

Face it, societal 'problems'(or basic social antagonism caused by free-will) will never be fully resolved as long as there are people in a society. Grim because a society does not exist without people. Though, don't let me destroy your fervor.

Good luck in supporting that senator.

Interesting.
Black folk, in the U.S., always are linked to the poverty population.
Blacks, just like any other demographic, are scapegoats for governments. Bush used it, Obama uses it. Politics is perceptually capricious and food stamps will continue despite the bucking because those folks in office want to keep their jobs too.

Stay current with the news, under obama the food stamp recipients have grown form 28 million to 46 million. The truth might set you free.

Recheck those stats.
You would be incorrect. Sorry, but it is a fact. There are more blacks on it and they are lower in population, too.

Typical goverment programs run by obama, anyone see the irony here?

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the US Dept of Agriculture, is actually proud it is distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever.
Meanwhile, the National Parks Service, administered by the US Dept of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.
This ends today's lesson

How are they ripping me off? I don't buy gas unless I want to, I never charge anything on a credit card unless I can pay it off at the end of the month with no interest or fees, I loan money to banks I don't borrow from anyone, my parents are dead, and my kids do as I do.

How long do you expect the government to help? Do you and your husband plan on having any more kidz soon? Is there anyway you could work at a daycare and get a discount on the weekly fees? Or maybe take up Child Care Development and start your own daycare, since you're at home anyway, so you can bring a income into the house.
I have a son, I'm not married, and the government gives me NADA! They said I dont have enough kidz to qualify for any assistance. If the government cut off your assistance, since there are two adults in your household, would you and your husband be willing to have more kidz in order to keep the assistance? Do you think the government forces people to remain in poverty? Do you think if you would have furthered your education, you would have obtained a comfortable position to where you could afford daycare for your kidz and have lil extra left over? Do you feel that if you and your husband only had 1 child, would you be able to afford daycare? I have 1 child right now. I would like plenty more, just to have a big family. But you know what, I CAN'T AFFORD IT!
First of all its so easy for people to pass judgement when they are in a better situation. Please don't delude your self in thinking that food stamps are for just people who " don't work" or are "poor". Food stamps are for people just like you who once had a great job and superb insurance and a 1,500 a month mortgage, and lost it ALL! So before you pass judgement on anybody maybe you should in their shoes first and then maybe we would care what you had to say.

Why do y'all fools keep asking this question????? I bet everyone that has said if you can't afford kids don't have them... But in the next breath would say abortion is wrong.... Quit judging people and count your own blessing because in a blink of an eye everything you have can be stripped from you and you can be in the same predicament..... I'll give y'all an current event George Zimmerman.... I would say I hate it for his family. It he deserves and should get atleast murder 2.... You think his wife alone will be able to pay for the house cars daycare GAS food clothes school supplies ext alone?????? No
