For all those "dog fighting doesn't hurt anyone" advocates...how's it working for this guy? What impact might it have had on the four year old child that lived there?

Hmmmm... let's see... illegally fighting dogs... committing more crimes while already out on bond for federal charges...

OK... will give you the fact that this guy was not an overly paid athlete...

Didn't read anything about a four-year old living there.

I wish so one at ga tech would hurry up and finish the time machine so we could send this person and others like him back to the ancient rome and the arena. Make them be gladiators and just and after they lose just before the thumbs down transport them back.. Maybe then the might see how barbaric and wrong they are

Why not charge the mother too? She had to have known what was going on in that house, and intentionally put her 4 year old in danger. How sad.

Goodness, it was a very short articlem, did you even read it?
Phillips' 4-year-old son was found at the scene. He is staying with his mother, police said.
This is definately an example of how Michael Vick's brutality had a silver lining. I'm sure I wasn't the only one unaware of this apparently very popular inner city pastime!

The Vick case brought attention to this disgusting practice and the average citizen had their eyes opened and was outraged!

Good job APD!

Wonder if Mayor Franklin will write the judge on this guy's behalf? Or, maybe he does not have the necessary 'walking around money'!!

i am in agreement with jane how come the mother was not arrested also,, when she came to pick up the 4yr , we all know that the mother knew, but how come the father and mother was not arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.. is it too late to stop the thrill already imbedded in that child for enjoying the pain and death of dogs

The man who came a challenged me for my dogs to fight while i was selling watermelons at big Al's on campbelton was a diffenent man than the one pictured here. But they're seems to be a common thread of mental illness because these people look like there is a screw loose somewhere. It couldn't be the money, this guy is broke. No electricity in winter around christmas. You reap what you sow comes around again.

The reason you carry dogs to the watermelon field is because of snakes. The dogs detect the snakes way better than we can. They'll warn you of trouble while your harvesting in the chicken grass. You alsso often have 3 ,4, 5 thousand dollars of the farmers money on hand cash. And the dogs are a good deterrent for robbers who might catch you alone out in the middle of nowhere. That's the reason i was so mad. These two dogs were like my best friends and family members.

How exactly do you KNOW for a fact that the mother knew? You can't possibly KNOW. Do I know if she knew? Nope I don't know her nor the man charged. Do you KNOW that she had been there before? What if the man had just moved in? Doubtful yes BUT that is my point. You can NOT KNOW for a FACT that she knew.

Liz,
It is the mind-set of the vigilantes. To hell with the "Rule of Law", arrest everyone near the scene and charge them, because they are all guilty by association. LOL...

Ok. I think it's clear that the man had lived there for sometime. He had all the dead dogs on his property and equipment used in dogfighting.

But, just for the liberals out there... let's suppose that the mother didn't know, which is highly unlikely.

How do you, as a parent, leave your child in a place you know nothing about (child endangerment)? If I wasn't living with the father of my children, you can bet I'm going to check out his place before allowing my 4 year old to stay there (common sense).

Further, how could she not know about 15 pit pulls? What? They were all sleeping everytime she brought the kid there? I would never leave my child at a house with 15 pit bulls (child endangerment). And for that matter, the house must have smelled so bad! She didn't notice that either??

Either way, whether she knew or didn't, she is a negligent mother who put her child in harms way and she should be charged.
