The removal of Chief Yandura is an outrage against a good man who has served College Park with skill, distinction and honesty, unlike most of the members of the College Park Council

Have they ever given a reason for the change?

This is an atrocity. We have been well served by our chief and a councilman's vendictiveness over the arrest of a family member witnessed to have severely beaten a women is an outrage. Tracy - what exactly do you represent - abuse of women?

They want a black police chief. Look it up a couple of years ago they fired the business development coordinator simply because he was white and gay, although he had done a good job. I heard they just settled a lawsuit. They This is form the same councilmen that wanted to spend 250,00 on a skybox at phillips arena. Look it up do a google search. One of the councilamn did not even had a job until recently and the city had to make an exception to carry him and his family on the city insurance. They keep complainiong about crime in thecity but they allow all these shady busisnesses to move in and to continue to operate in spit of numerous violations example (Discount Mall) where drugs and hundreds of thousands of counterfeit merchandise are sold yet they continue to grant a business license year after year. The southisde of the city O.N. Godby Rd is a basically a slum full of section 8 housin with rundown apartments. On top of that the revolving door policy of fulton county da has turn the criminal system into a catch and releas program where the same criminals are re-arrested over and over. They expect the police to keep this area. Eventually the councilmen will run the city to the ground.

The insurance company had a settlement with the developdirector but the council sued their own insurance company to stop the settlement. the attorneys and the insurance company withdrew and the city is now liable for all costs beyond the settlement amount. Last monday, Councilman Carn appointed a convicted felon to the Dusiness and industrial development Authority, and only because a citizen discovered it did the appoinment get blocked. I just called the former Development Director, his lawsuit is NOT settled and is expected to go to TRIAL in the United States District Federal Court within the next 60 to 90 day's.

The City Council has already admitted guilt in their filings with the Court. Does this mean that they lied for the past 5 years about their motives and now say it was DISCRIMINATION? And to think Charles Phillip's is a Lawyer. Can you say "Disbarment" ?

Chief Yandura should hire Jones's Legal Counsel and sue the City for wrongful termintation.

City officials came to the Historic College Park Neighborhood meeting and danced unconvincingly. This is the dance of trying to circumvent civil service protections. Could turn into a whirling mass of dust larger than they thought

City department heads have been told by numerous council members that if they do not hire only African American candidates, they will be fired.
When they recently hired a white candidate for a position by mistake (after a phone interview), the person made the mistake of walking in to sign all their paperwork before their official first day of work. When the candidate was seen to be white instead of African American, they were called and told that the position had been pulled and would not be available. It was then re-posted soon afterwards.
During the court proceedings regarding the development director, the council stated that they did not realize discrimination was illegal, and one of them is a lawyer.
Discrimination in any form is illegal and should not be tolerated. The fact that it is a continuing pattern in College Park should be a concern to all citizens.

I have know Gary Yandura since 1960's. It was my honor to have made the background investigation on him before hiring him in Lake Forest, Illinois. I know him to be an honorable, fair, dedicated law enforcement officer. From what I read, sounds like the council of College Park needs a civil rights investigation!

First you need to see who these councilmen are:
Mr C...an unemployed musician without any type of experience except "family violence"(check the record.)He is the one that the city is paying insurance for.
Mr. W...only experience he has is as a mail man who by the way began hitting on the female employees, including PD females, as soon as he was appointed coulcilman. He is also the one that complaint about a family member being arrested, with a warrant and all very legal, and blames the Chief for not providing him with "selective" treatment.(Again check the files for the arrest)Mr. C would of love to get that skybox but was stopped by Councilman Slider who quit as soon as he figured the type of persons he was going to work with.
Mr. P...a memmber that has cost the city thousands of dollars so that he can have it his way. At one point he sued the city for a total cost of 91,000.00 dollars so that he could have the Public Safety building constructed where he wanted to. Althought there were other no so expensive avenues. He did not care. A "lawyer" who has yet to be seen in court.(All can be checked and confirmed in the city records.)But, hey he voted to improve a park in the city as long as it carried his name, go figure.
Mr. A...best friend of the Chief but still voted to fire him. When asked he had no answers,...friends like this one the Chief does not need to worry about his enemies! Now we know which side this newest councilman leans to.
There are now 20 standing and active lawsuits against the council members. Since they were elected to these posts, the city has spent over 3 million dollars in legal fees covering for them!!!
If the citizens of College Park do not wake up and smell the "roses" and open their eyes to the corruption that this council has brought to the city, they will end up as the worst "ghetto" in the history of Atlanta.
By the way, the council fired the chief and then asked the city lawyer to come up with a good reason for their actions. After alomost having a heart attack the city lawyer got to work...of course he needs his check also. This is why Mr. Longino, the mayor, needs three or so weeks to have everything in order. Time to work the "little details" out to come out with an excuse. maybe we need to bring the feds into the city and have another "federal inquiry".

The city charter needs to be revoked and the city placed back into the unincorperated county.
