I liked a chunk of that cheese with the palm size johnny cookies that were in a huge glass jar on the counter. Those stores had not only real food that tasted great, but had a wonderful smell to them. I grew up on a farm and we would have a visit by a "rolling store" once a week. It sold everything from candy, cloth, flour, to kerosine. It was a special day when it arrived. Thanks for the memories.

Here in the South, there is a thing called "Southern Culture" that includes all races. If you're old enough, you can remember when you were told to respect the elderly, and to say "yes mam and no mam". You opened the doors for the ladies, and pulled the chair out for here to sit down. You were expected to act like you were civilized, and try to use the proper English, because you represented your family. You attended Sunday School, and was expected to. You were happy to go to grandma, or auntie, where you were served tea cakes, and lemonade.A Fourth if July included men digging a hole in the ground about the size of a grave, and burning dried oak wood all day on the third, and by nightfall, you had a hot bed of coal.
As a kid, you were happy to go to the small local store, where you either bought a can of potted mean, or a ten cents slice of "rat cheese" with a ten cent box of saltines. Other goodies included, buying a bag of "Tom's Peanuts, and pouring the entire bag into a six ounce bottle of Coke.Other things consisted of buying an RC Cola, and a "Moon Pie".
Saturday was a day to go to the movies and watch Johnny Mack Brown, Roy Rogers, Zorro, Will Bill Elliot,Flash Gordon , and many serials.
On school days, when you arrived home from school, you were expected to change shoes and clothes, because if you lived in the rural area, there were chores to be done.
There are many things about the South many transplant don't understand mainly, because they never ask.I'm proud to be from the South.
Just my two cents worth.
I shall always remember the tea cakes my grandma made, they were so good. I also remember her saving feed sacks for me to pick my cloth for the shirt she would sew for me. My first grade picture has me wearing one of those shirts she made for me. The most important gift my family gave me was the gift of self-reliance.

It is impossible to have a meaningful conversation without the nut trolling with his demented thoughts, but we must endure his desultory imbecilic comments because the insane are with us always.

Hey Sofa Turd, can you talk like a Cacafornia "valley girl?" Of course, there aren't too many Eighties "valley girls" in that BANKRUPT cesspool you live in now. Seriously, it is really a shame what has happened to California aka Cacafornia, but it just goes to show what happens when LIEberals and their pets take over.

By the way, you can probably answer this better than anyone - do the Jews control the blow-up doll business?
"Miss Hillbilly Heaven. Blow her up and she's only slightly dumber than you are!"
I would say more than likely and I would also say that you're probably one of the few people who would get turned down by a "blow-up doll." BTW, which type of blow-up doll turned YOU down, the Barbie or Ken version? bwah hahahahaha. Get lost creep. Dude, dudette, or it, I betcha you look like the typica perv that can be seen coming out of "the adult video store" all alone at 3AM wearing socks and sandals. bwah hahahahaha.

Some idiot aka Sofa Queenie thinks he's being refined by topping his monkey brain sammich off with arugula instead of iceberg lettuce. Hey Sofa Turd, here take this sign that says, "Sticky me up" down to sperm bank. bwah hahahaha. Douchebag.

I've dined with kings and queens, I've also slept in alleys and ate pork & beans.

2016. March 18, 2013.

The 2016 has eaten squirrel, taint too bad. He's eaten wabbit, gator, turtle, deer, frog legs, and quail(quail not really much of stretch, and either is rabbit) but that is the extent of my dining on nature's goodies. The 2016 won't go near "possum," raccoon, rattlesnake, or those giant rats they have down on the Bayou. Damn dat reminds me of CCR and one of my favs, "Down On The Bayou." Seeeeeeeeeyaaaaaaaa.

I am looking at 2 slingshots I made for my young grand-boys. I use the wide rubber bands nurses use to wrap around your arm for taking blood because the natural red ones are long gone. You are the only one who had the wisdom to determine where my name came from. That was one tough wood. I am passing those useful fishing and hunting skills along to my grand kids. Hopefully these sills will prevent them from ever having to ask the government for a handout and teach them to love the farms they shall inherit.

Rumor is that the California democrats will build more asylums to house the excessive number of nuts like him who spend their day spewing hate filled maniacal incarnation all day while trying to trade their twist top wine bottles to each other.

Here's a few more.
The Beau Brummels
Blue Cheer
Bonnie Raitt
Grateful Dead
Hot Tuna
Jefferson Airplane
Journey
Linda Ronstadt
Night Ranger
Quicksilver Messenger Service
Santana
The Tubes
Counting Crows
Country Joe and the Fish
Eddie Money
Green Day
Sly and the Family Stone
The Pointer Sisters
Tower of Power
John Lee Hooker
Lindsey Buckingham
Sammy Hagar
Damn. Forgot about Journey. Great group. I only like two other acts on that list. The "sexy" Linda Ronstadt(in her prime and not now obviously) and Eddie Money. The Money man is from New York and I think Ronstadt is from Arizona or somewhere in the Southwest. They might have made their mark playing out of San Fran but they're not from there. Eddie Money was a very underrated act in the Seventies and Eighties, and it is really an injustice that Ronstadt isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Lindsey Buckingham could be included since he was in Fleetwood Mac. San Fran and Boston are the top cities for Rock and Roll acts, and Detroit and Philly for soul and R & B. New York, LA, and Atl for (C)rap music.

My favorite group of all-time is the Stooooooooones. Are Mick Jagger and Don Knotts related? bwah hahahahaha. Damn, if Mick don't look like Barney Fife. teehee. I think Sofa Dude's favorite singer is Hank "Bocephus" Williams Jr. and his all-time favorite tune is "If Heaven Ain't A Lot Like Dixie." teehee. And his second favorite tune is "The South Is Gonna Do It Again" by Charlie Daniels. bwah hahaha. Think I'll go listen to "Uneasy Rider" and "Long Haired Country Boy" by CDB now. Be back in a few.

The 2016 is relaxing wit some Beer/Beam/and Buds listening to dem tunes. Oooooooh yeeeeeeeeaaaaaah. They call me mellow yellow yeah.

Damn it Jim. How could I leave out the Sofa Dude's all-time favorite tune of "Georgia" or is it "Georgia On My Mind" by Ray Charles. The Sofa also likes "Midnight Train To Georgia." teehee. Damn, Georgia is mentioned in a lot of tunes out there. Much to the chagrin of Sofa Dude, the state of Georgia might be in the top 5 when it comes to being mentioned in songs. I mean I can think of just of the top of my head besides the two I already mentioned there is "Sweet Georgia Brown," "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," "The Night That The Lights Went Out In Georgia." Maybe we need to lock Sofa in a padded cell and play all those songs over and over and over and over. bwah hahahahaha. It's a long way to the top when ya wanna rock & roll. I hear dem bagpipes playin laddie and it's off to the races. teehee.

Don't know but I know Michael Nesmith of the "Monkees" went on to hit it big in sumtin or the other. And nope, sorry folks, Charles Manson never auditioned for the "Monkees." Crazy Charlie was locked up at the time. Cheer up sleepy Jean, and what can it mean to a daydream believer and a homecoming queen.

You just know that Sofa REALLY loves those tunes like his moniker "Southern Man" by Neil Young but the Southern man don't need Neil Young around. And this one really gets him going and is a REALLY GREAT CLASSIC, "The Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down." Done by many but most notably by Joan Baez and originally done by "The Band."
