The backbone of the government's case was the testimony of Millard Mann, an indicted coconspirator whose case was dismissed in exchange for his testimony.

Wasn't Millard Mann also suspected in the unsolved murder of a young mother in Haralson Co. This was also in the early to mid 70's. The girl was an older sister of Coyer girls who went to HCHS.

lol! I just have little pity on these criminal scum. These two losers have been in jail have been there for almost 3 years with no bail. Hmmmm......I wonder why? Yet some here think they are as innocent as a baby lamb. Killing a young boy and throwing him in a well, is about as bad as it gets.

He plead, no sentence handed down yet. The sentence will come after McCain's trial and not until. He only plead to aggravated assault, count 3 only, Let me repeat that # 3 ONLY not anything else was addressed. YOU WERE NOT EVEN THERE and if you had been you would not still be telling lies. Aggravated Assault carries normally 20 years but Judge Sutton DID NOT SENTENCE HIM, we do not know what the sentence is going to be until mid March. Call Ms. Donna Timms and she will tell you I am right. Charge # 3 was all he plead guilty to. Glad your drug sells are going good in this economy, I am shocked. You said you make $65,660 annually, that is one good business--do you need a partner until John gets out of prison. i Have been out of work a long time now in this mess.

Then he will get 20. Great! Thats a long time for that loser to think about the crap he has done. Then when he rats out his partner in crime, that loser will get life without parole.

You should be able to find the book in the local library. I think the name of it is "The tapping of the Tallapoosa 20". The name might not be quite right but there was a book written about it.
This link will give you the names of the major players in the "Gas Tap"

The Sammy Robinson mentioned. Is this our councilman?

Clarence Newborn owns the truck stop out by the interstate right?

Bowling, would that be the Old Exxon on highway 78?

I am trying to put all this into some kind of order.

and what about Tamp Liner. I thought he was involved?

The gas business happened in the early 70's, why is it so important to all of you now? Do people ever change or do they have to pay all their lives? Most of the one's are dead anyway. You know what you read but you were not there then either, Are any of you old enough to have been there? please give folks a break.

I could care less myself. I only supplied a link concerning the matter because someone wanted information on it. And yes I am old enough to remember it very well.

To John In North Carolina & Just Curious: There is a book about this..The name is THE TRIAL of the TALLAPOOSA TWENTY. Author was Philip Pope. The book is out of print and currently unavailable from local bookstores as well as Amazon.com and Half.com .
To Videoman: I moved to Haralson Co. 2 years ago after living in Atlanta (near Lenox) for 16 years, then in Cherokee Co. for 8 years. Since being in Haralson Co., I haven't locked my doors, windows or vehicle!! Haven't felt the need...
One more thing, Videoman~ do you even have a clue what a red neck actually is? I'd bet the rent that you don't...

There were more than 20 people involved in the gas story, I know several that were caught, when the book deal was being made the publisher was not offering much money to those involved and when some objected they were told that the number involved could be changed if they did not agree to the deal, instead of the tallapoosa 23 it could be the tallapoosa 22 or 21 or 20, after some of those involved got out of prision they were offered jobs with plantation pipeline, I guess PPL thought it better to have them in the tent peaing out instead of outside the tent peaing in.

I am very well old enough to remember. My brother spent time because of his involvment with the "Great Tallapoosa Gas Tap." And no I will not mention his name because he has paid his dues to society, so don't waste time asking. All this said, he was never offered a job with PPL and never mentioned that anyone else was ether.

Ghost, it is three years old, but the losers that murdered that boy were just recently convicted, and sent to prison, so I think it is still relevent, as long as it stays on topic.

I agree with staying on the topic, but I was referring to the posts about the 1970's stuff. Personally, I hope the losers that killed the boy are now the girfriends of a 300 inmate named Bubba.
