It should be harder to buy a gun and get a concealed permit. Then, you should be able to carry almost everywhere. If some of the students at Va Tech were armed, that event would have stopped much sooner.

So, just who is going to make sure these idiots don't buy a beer (or ten) and go crazy while carrying a gun in these public places?

Maybe YOU do not have enough self control to carry a firearm and not drink, but every CCW licensed person I know, including myself, does not drink when they carry. Those of us who have gone thru the legal process to get our CCW license are not going to risk losing it over a few beers. |

Ga has over 300,000 people with concealed permits. How many have you heard of getting drunk and going on a rampage? Matter of fact, with the news media ready and willing to report and highlight any person with a permit that may get into criminal trouble, how many times has this happened? This in-its-self should be evidense that those permitted to carry a firearm, concealed, is not a threat to yours or any other persons well being as long as you/they are not trying to commit a forcible felony against the carrier. |

Let's see...no criminal record, no gun handling training, never shot a gun, no test to take for mental condition. Hey I qualify for a Georgia carry permit.

"Get Real"...how about doing just that. Read the laws pertaining to the obtaining a CCW in Ga. Making statements without merit or truth is just flapping your gums and hearing yourself talk, just what your doing. |
Idiots are disallowed from receiving gun permits in Georgia. Criminal idiots are already carrying guns illegally. Just watch the 6 o'clock news. You'll see them robbing convenience stores, committing drive by shootings, killing rival gang members. Honest people deserve to be able to arm themselves for protection the way homeowners do. |

Oops I stand corrected. Quote from the law "Any individual who has been hospitalized as an inpatient in any mental hospital or alcohol or drug treatment center within five years of the date of his or her application." I guess that is the mental test standard. What a joke.

Truly sad that CCing has become a necessity. USA-2008 a terrorist/thugee rabble. Ancient Greeks (450-BC) bragged of their ability to walk weaponless in major city-states.
What have we allowed? Seems that murder, like rape has become a sign of social mobility. |

Here are the requirements. You be the judge....
No license will be issued to: 1. Anyone under 21 years of age. 2. Any person who is a fugitive from justice or who has felony charges, forcible misdemeanor or weapons violations charges pending against him. 3. Any person convicted of a felony who has not been pardoned by the President, the States Board of Pardons and Paroles, or any person or agency empowered to grant pardons. 4. Any person convicted of forcible misdemeanor who has not been free of supervision for at least five years. 5. Any person convicted of a weapons carrying violation, who has not been free of supervision for at least three years. 6. Any person who has been hospitalized for in patient treatment in any mental hospital or alcohol or drug treatment center within five years of the date of application. 7. Any person who has been convicted of a controlled substance or other dangerous drug offense. After the judge has received the application the applicant must go to a designated local law enforcement agency for fingerprinting. The law enforcement agency may charge a $5.00 fingerprinting fee. First time applicants shall submit an additional fee not to exceed $30.00 for the criminal records search. The law enforcement agency must investigate the applicant (including a federal and state criminal record check) and must report any negative findings back to the judge within 50 days. A report is not required if no derogatory information bearing on the applicant's eligibility is discovered. The judge shall issue the license within 60 days after the date of the application if no facts establishing ineligibility are found and if the judge determines the applicant has met all qualifications and is of "good moral character." If the applicant has been hospitalized at a mental hospital or alcohol or drug treatment center within five years of his application for a license to carry, the judge has discretion, after considering the recommendation of the Superintendent of the hospital or treatment center, to issue or deny the license. |

No criminal is gonna do any dirty work with a weapon registered in his/her real name. What about the drunks in the bars that never got to do this before and now will act like a lil kid in the toy store thinking they can waive they're lil toy around at any and everybody that they feel threatened by.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN PEOPLE! |
