Genarlow,

As a Douglas County resident and mother of a seven-year-old son, I really do support you and your efforts. I hope that this battle goes in your favor. Keep your head up. I hope that the young men everywhere learn from this life experience that you have had to endure.
Also, to the parents who are so-called responsible for raising our young ladies, teach your daughters what they should and should not be doing, especially on videotape, and willingly. If it was up to me, the female in this incident would be doing time along with Mr. Wilson. Lest we forget, sodomy is still a crime.

I didn't want to say this, but race is definately a factor in this case. This man should not be in jail for having consensual oral sex. The girl should be the one in jail not him, after all the tape clearly shows her performing the act.

It was oral sex, not sodomy. Read the story.

This is a clear case of how the south is still very much in the stone age. If this young lady were black we would never have even heard about this incident. God forbid that a white girl can be attracted to a black boy, not in the south. I pray that this young man gets out soon. This is a terrible travesty done to him. If he had to go to jail, why didn't the girl get the same punishment. It takes 2.

I agree with all of the comments, yet we have to continue to pray for our teens/children. I have a 15 year old and I have drilled this story in his mind. I doesnt matter what we do to get ahead, there always seem to be something in the back trying to keep us down. Lets come together as a community and let them know that we are for each other too. I dont care how much they say that RACE is not a factor in this case....it is very well the main case. It really has nothing to do with the law anymore. I mean look at the teacher that got out on having sex with the minor..It's a shame!!

These were two high school kids that got involved with what high school kids do. Clearly, the two teen's character can be openly attacked for this since it was put into an open arena by making the video. Just because we can attack a kid's character, doesn't give us the liberty or the right to attack them legally. Clearly this was consensual. People can say it is the kid's fault or they can say it was the parents fault. But fact of the matter is, this is people doing what society has said to be socially acceptable. This is an issue that should be handled by the parents of the kids, not by an official that doesn't have the God given authority to handle this family matter. Just my opinion. Take it for what it is!

i agree it is high school kids doing what high school kids<most anyways> will do! to get this harsh of a sentence makes n o sense. consensual is the key here he didn't rape her or make her give him head!!! i am glad there is this new law involving teenagers. too many teenagers are marked as sexual predators and that is not the case.

Surprise surprise... the race card... I do not believe he should be in jail. I think that consensual sex in teens no matter how unwanted by parents it is is just that CONSENSUAL... SO the 10 yr sentence and the sex offender registry is ridiculus. However... I do not believe it is because he is black and quite frankly I am sick of hearing that. The girl's parents probably got pissed off and wanted him prosecuted with molesting their "baby girl" because how could their poor sweet daughter been involved in a sex act? Parents should worry about their own kids and teach them that sex has consequences not worry about having the other party thrown in jail- UNLESS it was rape or forced. Plenty of parents have filed rape charges when it was consensual. It makes me angry... tell your kid not to have sex don't ruin someone's life by having to register on the sex offender list because teenagers have sex.

By no means do I condone teenage sex... but it does happen. So hold YOUR daughter responsible not prosecute the guy.

Five other male partygoers took plea deals. Wilson's case was the only one that went to trial.

he turned down the deal offered him, and paid the price..........right or wrong

that is really not an issue.....

GA just sent a strong message to the Lawyers that want to argue a case in Georgia,,,,,,,

Georgia has the home field advantage and don't mess with Texas as they say......

Thank you, Mr. Dictionary. Duhhh...Oral Sex=Sodomy.

Anyway.....

I agree with many of the posts on here. I think this case was all about race. Mr. McDade has said over and over again that if this issue came back up again, that he would prosecute the case again. That is stupid. Makes me wonder if he had a 17 year old son who was "receiving oral services" from someone's 15 year old; or if he had a 15 year old daughter who was willingly on videotape giving services, would he have been so quick to prosecute. I didn't want to say it, but it is a race issue. However, we need to teach our sons, black and white, expecially black and in Douglas County, this is the way of the world. Fair or unfair, that's the way it is.

I am on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what this judge will decide. I am praying that Wilson goes free. I have three boys and I can imagine just what his mother might be going through. Wilson is not in prison because of this sex act he is being punished for having the forbidden fruit.

If it was consentual, then the girl had sex with a minor also and should have a punishment equal to the guy's punishment.

I think we have gone overboard in the laws and the penaltys, do the right thing and let him have a life, apply the law retroactively.

Strength to all involved. May wisdom and compassion prevail.

I'm looking forward to the day when the United States has one justice system instead of multiple systems based upon the persons being convicted. We have a number of laws that should be updated and we trust our elected officals to make just decisions. Constantly year after year we tell our children that its ok to treat people based on the color of their skin.

How can it be about race as all parties were black

I was posing sodomy = oral sex because someone else did not realize that

Strong message NO the wrong message

for having oral which is happening as we type becuase he was 17 and she was 15 he goes to jail for 10 years and serves 90% and is a Life long sex offender are you kidding What is the message Guys always get prosecuted? Or Oral sex is bad? or Teens are not allowed a break for screwing up?

So Big time what is the message we are sending. How about the fact we are too zealous in trying to instill morals via the court( not the place to do it) we punish 17y.o guys and gilrs there is a women on the sex offender list for doing oral as a 17y.o female and the male being 15y.o

How MORONIC can we look.

The race card..... With the education that is available, we are still trying to throw the race card. I seriously don't see how we can take every unfortunate event down to color. If everyone will look around, I really don't see how anyone can even distinguish who is in the lead for this. Kids are still being taught at home that no matter how hard they try, people are just going to come in and strip them of their ambition because of color. I've never been on the receiving end of this and I bet the the majority of the ones screaming "race" havn't either. It's sickening that our country is so irresponsible that we have to keep an excuse hidden in our pocket to play at any time things don't go the way we thought they should. I don't believe these kids should be punished, nor do I condone teenage sex, being a product of a teenage sexual experience. I learned along time ago. Things happen, get over it!

Judges in other states have let true child molestors off with a slap on the wrist without any repercussions. Why can't a judge in this backward state do the same thing for a MINOR that did nothing wrong?

My heart goes out to him and his mother who is clearly fighting to get her son freed from an injustice. I have a 17yo son, and so this really hit close to home. I don't know how the DA sleeps at night knowing that he prosecuted this young man. The law wasn't written for these kind of cases in the first place, this was just another way to get one more of ours caught up in the system.
