Last year Charter raised its internet pipeline services from $39.00 to $54.00 a month and that is only internet services. They try to get people to get packages as the package minimal price is $98.00 a month not including taxes.
CEO Paul Allan is so wealthy; he bought himself a $150 million yacht besides the other ridiculous price tag toys he buys. It is a shame living in a town that the population of own house owners is 5% and the rest renters, companies like Charter Communications is ripping people off on these Internet Cable scams.
Shame on you Charter Communications from stealing from the poor.
NEWS FLASH HE OWNED MICROSOFT DUMBASS OF COURSE HES RICH AS SHIT. AMONG THE OTHER 15 COMPANIES HE OWNS. YOU HAVE ALL THE PEOPLE THAT STEAL CABLE TO BLAME FOR THE HIGHER PRICES, OR THE NETWORKS RAISING THEIR PRICES. IF I WAS PAUL ALLEN I WOULD BUY A BIG ASS BOAT AS WELL AND PARK IT IN FRONT OF YOU HOUSE AND LAUGH.
I don't have TV service because I can't afford it, but I know about customer service. And you work for charter?! You are what all these people are talking about! Ignorant and rude!!!

My charter home phone service is out for the 3 rd time in 3 weeks. I was with AT&T for over 30 years and never lost service. It's not worth switching to charter. I'm going back.

Charter cost me $95.68 a month. I have their Basic TV and internet. I called once and complained and they lowered the price by about 9 dolloars and 2 weeks later I received a letter in the mail claiming they are raising my fees. Nice discount for 2 weeks only.

I have had outages and lousey internet from them for about 15 years. They disconnect me so they can add service for a new neighbor and I then have no Charter. I call and they lie to me and say there is an outage. Yeah, the tech took my cable off and put the neighbors cable in it's place. They put a filter on my cable so I couldn't get digital channels. No problem, I only have one analog TV. Well, when it gets over 100 degrees here in California, the filter does more than filter out the digital channels, it kills my internet.
They send out a tech and he takes the filter off while he tests it and he says no problems, then he puts the filter back in line and I have no internet.
This company could care less about their customers.

I signed up with Charter for only internet service not even a year ago. It was $19.99/month and life looked good. A few months later I got a letter saying that they have increased the price to about $30/ month. No reason, no explanation...And that was still acceptable, I didn't complain...Now, not even a year after I originally signed up with them I got a bill saying that the new price was going to be $51/month so in less than a year this company increased the internet service fee by more than 200%!!!!!!!!
Funniest part is that when I called one of their reps told me that the first price was a promotion ($19.99) and the second price was also a promotion ($30) and the $51 was actually the real price. They never told me this in the beginning, not even once...
Bottom line, STAY AWAY FROM CHARTER COMMUNICATION...unless you have $$$$$ to burn...I;m going somewhere else, even if it's for the same price, at least I know I;m not being laughed in my face..

There is by far no monopoly for internet service on the central coast. Charter is not ripping you off, they are simply asking you for more than you want to pay. Tough. Get over it.
Maybe you have other options, but others don't. The only option for high speed internet in my town is Charter. They advertise their specials, but try finding out what the rate is after the special is over...GOOD LUCK!

The point of capitalism is to achieve market share by any means possible, including entering into no-compete agreements, so that your customers have no options when you raise prices. This is why Cox stays out of San Luis Obispo and Charter stays out of North San Diego County - for instance. Charter has an effective monopoly, with only moderate competition from ATT DSL. They can and will raise prices while not having to invest more into better services/products. It's called monopoly capitalism. The best way to offset the higher costs of monopoly capitalism is to invest your extra money in companies that have monopolies. That's what I do and it works perfectly. I don't complain about high internet/cable costs, I invest in companies like ATT ... and I get some of my money back. People who don't or can't do this are suckers. Don't complain about monopolies, become one.
I am so happy that you have money to invest...what about the rest of us who are being ripped-off?

I have two cable services (WOW & Charter) in my neighborhood. They both will rape your wallet. I have to call them both every 2 years to bargain after my promo price is up. The cable company will always knock $30 off.

Regarding Charter or any other provider of garbage programming , it must be understood by all that any of them are allowed by congressional thugs in DC to perform as they do because in fact those same thugs invest in the networks. The producers of television programming bundle the few worthwhile programs with all the remaining drivel in ways that are inseparable by Charter and like providers by laws which congress also passed .All done at obscene cost and all unfortunately legal because municipalities enter into exclusive contract with these companies to the exclusion of all other eg, no competition .The only way to stop this nonsense is at TOWN HALL LEVEL where the solution resides ... the townies contract with these companies and they are the one who allow Charter and the like to do as they please ...I will be dropping Charter soon , I subscribe for internet speed only the garbage tv programming turn my stomach .I leave you all with this to ponder , if you want to prevail, show up in droves at the town offices of you respective communities and tell them that you have had enough about what they allow Charter to do you as the only provider and make it clear that you want competition on the poles . if they say no then draw your own conclusion about the land of the free , the braves and being able to choose what you want to watch and be willing to pay for based on content .
Talking to a different call center which Contracts to give the run around will do you little if no good at all. Due to the fascist nature of the US congress they are lawfully allowed to rip you off .Never lose sight of that when you vote again and if you do not vote ...well then ...include yourselves as part of the problem

Charter is adding $40 a month to my bill.
I signed a contract for my business that says I will pay $123.66 TOTAL CHARGES PER MONTH. My bill has been $161.40 per month. I called them and they say that the total charge isn't the total charge, it didn't include taxes and fees.
right. Going Back to AT&T as quickly as possible

Charter internet here went from $45 to $60. I do not use internet much and can do what I need on Android Tracphone internet for less than $10 a month. So Charter, instead of $15 a month extra you will be getting a $45 loss. Enough people do it then either they will charge the remainder more or they could get to the point of not making money on those cables. What happened to giving limited service to people who do not live on the internet? If I could avoid the internet all together I would do it for awhile but still do banking and email so can not avoid it at moment.
