!!! SHAME SHAME SHAME !!!

Edison officials should be ashamed that they are spending taxpayers money, during the current economic crisis, on this useless trip to INDIA to implement Indian Hindi language, while in INDIA this Hindi language is spoken by less than 50% of the total Indian population and English is highly favored in the Indian schools.

Get the facts right and instead spend on expanding the Edison schools because they are way overcrowded.

!!! DISGUSTING !!!

Are you kidding me!! Who is going to pay for this?? The schools are so crowded it breaks my heart to send my child to school here! Yes, my child is one of two non-Asian children in her class. I never expected this. I knew we were the minority ---BUT?? It is what it is- but please --that is not a good way to spend the money!! Do the Edison officials need a vacation? Maybe they should use their own money and spare the tax-payer. Have you seen the teacher's salaries??? They are ridiculous! Who says teachers are underpaid??? Maybe we need more teachers and bigger schools with more programs for all the children in Edison, NJ! More art and music and drama. Enviromentally friendly schools. Teach the children these things stop dwelling on the cultural differences. Let's try to make our community better by utilizing all the resources we have here! Stop outsourcing! That is why we are in trouble now!
And why is everything extracurricular for young children so late at night!!! I know parents work but a lot of these children are so tired during the day. Ask a Kindergartener their bedtime in Edison. It boggles my mind! What about the children?? What about community? I am fine being the minority and I enjoy learning about all the different cultures but we don't have to send people to India to learn the Hindi language. We can just drive down Oak Tree Road and pay someone from India to help out the community!
Sorry, I will get off my soap box I am really having a rough time in this community. I have lived here all my life and never had this horrible sense of no community. Where does everyone live that goes to school with my children? We usually go to Scotch Plains or Fanwood for playdates. I find Edison a ghost town during the day. I don't know how much longer we will last in this town. I love where we live be I don't know anyone!!!!
If I can help in any way to start a better sense of community please let me know. But my family always comes first to me.

All the had to do is go to Islin, NJ to get Indian information. Just keep spending our tax money. You would think in a recession, people losing jobs, barely making ends meet. The local goverment (Edison Township) would Freeze or cut property taxes. Reveiw how much wasted people Edison employs.

Here is what I don't understand, why we as a society are spending money left & right changing holidays, making special arrangements for people who choose to live here because it's cheaper or better or whatever, and as a whole, really don't even care about the town or community they live in. They (Indian Americans) if that's what we are calling them these days, come here and try to change everything to suit their needs, which all in all, I wouldn't have a major problem with. But if you don't like it here, then why did you come here?
NJ is great but why come here, heck every other town that they have invaded. And change everything. Just my 2 cents

Indian immigrants (from INDIA) who comprise 50% of the Edison, NJ population don't contribute anything. They are not involved in any community activities and they also 'hate' Western culture.
Then why these Indian immigrants come to USA??

Also YMCA in Edison, NJ is way overcrowded and these Indian immigrants are one of the heavy users of YMCA but yet don't want to contribute to YMCA expansion. Pathetic situation.

Let's get this right. Are they talking of implementing Hindi in Edison schools? Well I am Indian-American, and if that is so, it's a damn mistake. This pandering to ethnospecific interests is not only wrong, but it's a good way to breed racism.

To be sure, I don't as yet know what the real story is. I just stumbled upon this blog. But if people want to live in America, they had better fit into America, not ask it to turn into the old country.

To learn Language of any country is an advantage. India is growing very fast It would be better for Americans to learn Hindi language. In future this language will help you to do business or service in any sector. One billion peoples of this country, 90% peaple speak Hindi and Hindi is a National Language of India. Think for coming genration, world has been changed, every language has a its own power.

SHAME FOR BEING FROG OF POND AND CRYING ABOU IT. if you cannot except and treat every one equally then you don't have any right to blame any community if they learn it hard way that america is not racist. not every one is but yes racism do exists.

Take a chill pill from your hysterical post. Yes, racism does exist, and as a person of Indian descent I have combatted it. But what about tribalistic chauvinism and clannishness from minority groups? Racism can work both ways.

If we started catering to the language and culture of every freaking group, there would not be an America anymore. Just a "Tower of Babel" situation. English is the language that unifies us, along with citizenship, participation, study of US history, pledging allegiance to the Constitution.

By all means keep your heritage. But don't expect America to adapt to you. YOU adapt to it.

For the same reasons you or your ancestors came here. I know a lot of 2nd or 3rd generation immigrants from Europe (especially Italy) who still can not speak English properly and even address us as "these Americans are stupid". In Italy we do things differently. Same is true for a lot of Irish Americans, So do not point fingers at others because four point back at you. Indian Americans are law abiding, hard working(if not the most)people who are least likely to live off state programs, who do not do drugs and who do not get involved in organized or petty crimes. If they were not here you were more likely to die in an ER because one in every three doctors is an Indian American. 30% of hi tech jobs which make America great are filled by Indian Americans. So stick your head out of where ever you have it stuck and be thankful to your fellow Indian Americans else you can go back to where ever your ancestors came from.

You can read my post in response to TD from Edison for your "don't contribute anything" (stupid remark). Secondly, for your information America is not a western culture, it is a country where people from so called western culture also came to live in. Similarly people from Eastern culture came to live here. So if they do not like your culture it is perfectly ok. If you have a problem with that then you can stick your culture up your whereever and go back to wherever you wish to go.

To me it is not the fact that they are teaching Hindi in the schools. It is the fact that the tax payers paid all the extra money to send over-paid school officials to India! Or to send them to any country to start a new language in the school system for that matter! People that had no business going there! They can pay someone that lives in Edison to teach them all about India! Did you ever check the salaries the school officials get? Plus the benefits and retirement!!!!! What about the kids in the school? I have to buy tissues, hand sanitizer, crayons, 10 glue sticks and long list of other ridiculous supplies. Other school system have computer labs not Edison elementary. The teachers drive Mercedes, BMW's. The only thing my daughter painted in Kindergarten(the whole year) was mud because they only had brown paint!
The classes are way to full! The schools are super crowded!! Why do the teachers get paid so much? They have so many days off!!!! When people tell me poor teachers don't make enoungh and they work so hard I tell them to check the Edison township teachers salaries you might be surprized!
Another thing, try to navigate the Edison school website...you can't. It is really embarrassing! Other schools in other townships have everything you need including the school supplies needed for the year. Not Edison.... I guess everyone had a nice summer vacation that they all claim to work through! Whatever!

If your goals are fairly modest in the short term, they are achievable and you're likely to get some praise for achievements along the way. If you aim too high too quickly, others might not take you seriously or think you're being uppity and you could come unstuck. It's all a question of attitude and approach. There are contradictory influences over the next ten days but there could also be good luck coming your way.
