Philippines media, tv entertainment and most specially wowowee makes a lot of masses filipino look like ass on TV. Wowowee pick on their contestant by showing the viewers how ignorant these people are. Really degrading show for poor masses filipino's,. I will never and never enjoy these show..

I like the show because I can see my people and my country and it is fun. Pokwang and other comedians are really funny. My husband loves them. And he like the show but we don't appreciate it when Willy acted like a horse ass sometimes.

Pokwang is a very funny lady. My hubby and I loves her humor.
That's true. Her carefree silliness is hilariously cute.

Well you know, Pinoys are crazy soap opera fans the reason why wowowee, which is supposed to be an all-fun show, embraces the idea. The more drama the participant shows the more money he/she will get. But you know who tells the genuine story.

Being obsessive compulsive about all thing Philippine I actually have GMA on my satellite TV. Not sure why. Turns out its the other station I saw when I was there that had more english programming.

I actually watched wowwee one a few times while shooting past that channel. I dont understand it, cant comprehend how any one could like it. But then I also dont watch western game shows or talk shows anyways.

Too me its like a huge chunk of that channel is stuck in the 70's. Which though useless to me, guess ill be doing alot of Internet TV when I retire there is part and parcel of moving there.

Its like a trip back in time which is not a bad thing. I like modern technology but hate the modern fast paced world.

But then what I do like are those messed up in head Japanese gameshows. Now those are truely warped.

Hehehe. You will never understand the reasoning behind it since you were not raised here. It’s kinda silly actually but that’s just how it is. I don’t even get it. LOL! We really are shallow when it comes to things like entertainment. We sort of don’t really care whatever it is that they do so long as we can laugh about it. It’s really weird and messed up if you’re going to use western analogy. Anyways, life here is simple and consumers are not very demanding when it comes to the quality of entertainment being offered to us. Would you believe that the concept of almost everything being shown on TV is basically the same old stuff being recycled again and again with only different set of people doing those at a particular period. Unless, the Pinoy consumers demand for more quality, TV programming in the Philippines will remain the same. I am honestly sick watching soap opera types of shows here but what can we do, we’re Pinoys and Pinoys always we’ll be. You don’t have much of a choice when almost everybody in the family likes watching these stuff. Quite long… Hope it helps.

That all goes down to one fact: when you're desperate, nothing stands in your way. Not even shame.

There are a number of free but not quite legal sites online right now to watch western tv.

Some that come to mind are tvshack, voox etc.

Within the next few years something should come out that allows you to stream major networks at will to your computer (not just a few or limited shows).

tv-vcr rental-dvd-dvd rental online-tv on demand-streaming of all digital, the last one isnt far away, and will badly hurt the monopoly cable companies. Who will need 10 expensive packages of 100 channels when you only watch one channel at a time.

So I figure 5-10 years from now you will get to watch what you want from any country that you want. Just as now most radio stations can be streamed worldwide, I can listen to Ottawa CFRA morning show in Subic at 7pm as the traffic starts through the lastest snow storm of the century. All while looking out my window at the coconut trees at hmm 25c-30c in mid January laughing at the Canadian winter I left behind. Wait is that a typhoon coming my way... crap.

That way when Im in Subic, I wont be forced to watch wowwee.
