Very moving article, except that the term “Nazis” should be corrected to read “Germans,” so that the reader in naturally ignorant posterity does not think that those “Nazis” were Poles in whose occupied and devastated Poland all of this terror, murder, and carnage took place. It should also be glaringly noted that those “gentile” families were Roman Catholic, or otherwise Christian, POLES who were not anti-Semitic and who risked the lives of their whole extended families, as well as neighbors, because the German Nazi penalty for trying to save a Jew was collective death.

I might add that that death penalty for trying to save a Jew was harshest and uncompromising only on German-occupied Polish territory.

Yes the old girls saved people from the Nazis, but who were the Nazis? I presume they had a home country, a place of birth? Who's side were they on in WW2? Were they friendly with Germany? Did the fight against Germany? What were they doing in Poland? Nazis always seemed to be linked with Jews?
I'm young and have all these questions. Could somebody help me please?
