Hello, I was a Drama student at East Detroit Hih School back in the 80's. I had the incredible pleasure of learning the craft from Raymond Beard. I actually once travelled with our troupe to Pinckney to do our production of Hansel & Gretel for the school. We stayed at Mr. Beards house and went out that night to cause trouble with some of the local kids. I can't tell you what a blast we all had that weekend. I heard a rumor that Mr. Beard had passed away, but no one can confirm. I pray they were wrong. If someone could give me some information I would greatly appreciate it. I've been in North Carolina for some years and lost touch.
Thank you for your time. My email is [email protected]

I, too, was a student of Ray Beard's. I have had his email address for a few years, now all of a sudden it doesn't exist, and his phone is disconnected. I hope and pray he's ok.

Ray Beard of East Detroit High is my grandfather, and although he has been very sick a number of times, he is still with us! Although Grandma died just before Thanksgiving this year. Thank you for your kind words. He is truly one of a kind.-Shelly McCloskey

I had been thinking about Mr. Beard recently, my drama teacher at EDHS in the late 70s. Hope he is well. Sending all the best. I am still doing theater and improvisation and writing plays. I caught the drama bug early and Mr. Beard was instrumental in opening the world of dramatic writing and performance, which has sustained me throughout my life. His enthusiasm and love of theater was infectious.
