I don't think would revoke lease on marquee cinemas but we may never know real reason for marquee cinemas leaving mall before their free standing biking was be built

He's right. They had a month to month lease and the mall knew if they let marquee stay put until the new building was built they would never fill the spot they have now. This is going to be the largest money maker for theaters and franks is going to come in even if its just for the summer. They don't need to build anything, marquee already did. So they invest very little and try to steel the market. The marquee project has been held up on several occasions which I think shows the city want to try to save face with the IMAX money. If the mall theater doesn't make it, the city loses the money. Honestly, I think they are not going to make anything on the IMAX anyway. I haven't seen any announcements on what the IMAX is going to bring to be mall in other business, just rumors of people leaving.

In other words, if you have paired taxes for ten year, expanded the current theater twice, you are thanked by the city giving money to a competitor to come in on your market. Stupid. Why would anybody want to do business in kingsport

Marquee wasn't kicked out. They'd been wanting to move for years and when their lease was up they decided to move. They were going to move to the Pavilion but that fell through. Then they decided to move behind K-Mart and that is now happening. Marquee and the mall had several disagreements over the years. They finally got sick of rent raises and dwindling traffic due to the mall falling apart.

My correction Marquee was kicked out of the mall but I'm sure it was because of an ongoing spat between Marquee and the mall. As I said Marquee was well known to have issues being in the mall and hadn't been happy at that location in years. Relax guys though Marquee from what I understand will be reopening sometime between October-December of this year at it's new location right behind KMart on East Stone Drive! So we won't be without a movie complex in Kingsport very long.
