It's too bad Pittsfield threw this away.

OTB in New Lebanon is now taking bets on the ponies on the carousel. Trifecta bets are off the table as the ponies are individually impaled with a pole running right through them.

Those horses are made of wood. They are not even real horseys.

It would've been dumb in the mall as well. What a big surprise that the mall was being greedy. I have spoken with the owners of the smaller shops in the mall and fees and rent are insanely bloated. The mall should just die.

A carousel needs to be in the middle of a much larger attraction.
Even the most excited children will get bored of riding the carousel after the second time during any one afternoon.
It's surprising that the mall's management isn't offering space for the carousel for free in the center of the mall as a come-on to attract kids and their parents to the other areas of the mall which generate the real revenue.
Likewise, locating a carousel anywhere in downtown Pittsfield without other kid-friendly attractions surrounding it would be a total waste of effort AND of city assets.
It would be a huge mistake given the effort expended on creating this wonderful and useful work of art.
With that carousel sitting all by itself in any Pittsfield location, it's easy to predict a future Eagle/iBerkshires headline:'Pittsfield Carousel Vandalized by Graffiti Artists; Two Suspects Arrested'.

Why don't you put it on your front lawn? Just think of the possibilities!

You can spend your days ogling the children, and when their parents confront you about it you can sue! Best of both of your sick little worlds!

I feel so sorry for the guy whose idea and dream this is. He totally missed what his hometown had become. A rat infested sewer of greed and politics. He should have talked to Jim Bouton before he considered doing something nice for Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

After a few of the wooden horses were beheaded and other busted up and stolen, the remaining ones would be auctioned off at Meisner's auction house in New Lebanon and the motor and the steel brought to Pearlman's scrap yard for pennies on the dollar.

The clean up would cost Pittsfield roughly $200,000.00. The children will no place to go.

Chief Michael Wynn will be aware the crime but will be powerless to do anything about it.

As I said, the horses are not real. If they were they would have run as far from Pittsfield as they could get. The people are leaving and the animals will follow.
