On this Day: John Dillinger Gunned Down by Federal Agents

On July 22, 1934, notorious bank robber John Dillinger's legendary and highly publicized career as a desperado came to an end when he was killed as he exited Chicago's Biograph Theatre.

My grandfather was Judge Joseph Williams. I never got to meet him and was just recently made aware of his involvement in John Dillinger's sentencing. It makes me wonder why he handed down such a stiff penalty and there is no one left in my family I can ask. Is there any other information about him out there in Indiana?? I felt sorry for John Dillinger, he lived during the depression and was a victim of his era. HOLLY (WILDA) Bisesi
