This is a disgrace to Alumni and will make it difficult for ESU grads to get a job. Who wants to hire someone, who wasn't serious about their education? It also sets up a negative attitude in ESU's relationship with the community and puts a stress on our police. I also makes students more vulnerable to crime. Criminals figure students are easy targets, because they know when they aren't in their apt. or dorm and when they see them walking around drunk. The problem is that the community allows all that parying. No one does anything about it. Why isn't partying as prevalent at some schools and not as prevalent at others. It's ok for them to party once in a while, but not every week end or just about every night. Yeah, stress..."right of passage"....why not time for a change? Do it within reason. The students don't need to get careless and disrepectful to the community and the college.

As a 1976 Grad I can assure you that nothing has changed at ESSC/ESU in the past 40 years.

Nothing will change because of this 'rating'.

Just a note. Why are the 'security guards' at ESU armed but the school is a gun free zone??

And when did "party" become a verb?

I'm sure for the large numbers of students that commute to class every day, this is not an issue. Oneonta had the same label, but it did not mean a hill of beans. A handful of partying, dorm occupying underclassman does not define the whole University. Putting way too much emphasis on this.

I don't even know where these kinds of parties are going on that ESU would be that crazy...then again, I never wanted to be on campus for anything!

So true...the rating won't change. It just seems to keep getting worse. Sorry I went there too. The security guards are only armed with tazers. The students can now carry guns, which was in the local paper recently.

*...(a) Offense defined.--Any person who carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license under this chapter commits a felony of the third degree...*

If the students have a permit, they should have a right to carry.

Up here we don't need a permit, and gun crime is almost non existent. Because a vast majority of Vermonters are armed.
