This is great! I grew up in Madison County, and spent many a Saturday night at the Star Theatre in the late 50s.(the old theatre in Madison shut down in the early 50s). I'm looking forward to seeing the new digs and attending some of their shows.

Oops! The State was in Culpeper, the Star was the old theater in Madison.

This is great ....I have watched this project for the past several summers when I go to culpepper, and I can hardly wait to see the finished product...Lets hope they do not price the performances out of the price range of the average person...like the paramount in charlottesville has done.....

It looks beautiful and I hope it succeeds. This story seems a bit strange in the dates it used. At different points it says it was built in 1938 and then says this is the first time it has been lit since 1938. So did they build it and stop lighting the marquee in the same year? Strange.

As for the Paramount being over priced, it is the acts charging tons of money. The Paramount is run as a non-profit.

I am from VT, and was there for the illumination. It was, indeed, a "grand" moment and memory that I will cherish. As an outsider I felt as if i were part of your community and look forward to visiting once again.
