I was there last night. It was the best show I've ever seen at Tanglewood!

Nice review. One small correction: The line "From one person who's cleaned up his act to another" was actually delivered by Homer Simson, nor Sir Paul.

Very nice review, however, "Happy Birthday James, from one person who cleaned up his act to another." was actually said by Homer Simpson not by Mr. McCartney.

Great, does this mean Travolta and his Scientologist buddies are eyeing the Berkshires for a satellite "school", retreat or Scientology Berkshire Hills Chapter? I wouldn't be surprised.

Don't get your hopes up, it was probably Joey Travolta. |

An unforgettable performance of incredible range, from folk (a soulful "Sweet Baby James" accompanied by the incomparable Yo-Yo Ma) to jazz, to blues to a rollicking encore of "Midnight Hour" and "Knock on Wood." Phenomenal band. Thank you, JT, for 40 years of wonderful music. You make 60 look like the new 20!

"50-something concertgoer", you have GOT to be kidding -- or at the least you're one of JT's fellow 1960's burn-outs suffering from a bad case of hero worship. With repeated addictions to heroin and God knows what other poisons, combined with a history of selfishness, egocentrism to the extreme (did Carly kick him out or did he leave on his own), and an obvious lack of patriotism -- Mr. Folk Troubadour won't even volunteer his oh-so-valuable time to play for US troops on a USO Middle East tour, I'd say Mr. Taylor is definitely looking his age, if not then some. But of course, as The Berkshire Eagle so fawningly points out, James is to be praised because he allegedly "donates" proceeds of one of his cherished Tanglewood concerts to the BSO Musician's Fund. Ooooo and Ahhhhh, how generous! If that's what The Eagle (or JT's PR flaks) considers a donation, Taylor's Tisbury Tours, Inc. still manages to eek by pretty well, taking home a cool $411,384 for a weekend's work with the BSO in Fiscal 2006 under a nearly identical arrangement. SEE: PDF pg. 9, http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocuments/2006/04... If anything, I'd say Mr. Taylor makes 60 look like the new sextegenarian that he actually is -- with a healthy helping of male pattern baldness at that. Oh and yeah, JT's 'Tisbury Tours' got $773,976 from BSO the year before.
(Poor fellah, must've had to play an extra set that year.) SEE: PDF, pg. 7: http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocuments/2005/04... |
"He who can's be named"..... I have several photos of John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston. Have you nothing better to do with your time then bash events that you know nothing about? |

The 20,000+ fans that gladly paid for the best show I've ever seen care little about your opinions. I can't imagine what fuels your hatred, but therapy is not that expensive. Please seek some out, Mr. Nasty. |

Awesome! Make sure you donate prints to the Scientology Berkshire Hills Center off Dan Fox Drive. |

Let's see a bunch of yuppies and their parents out on the lawn sipping wine and eating cheese and trying to look 'cool' and 'hip' in their oxford shirts, dockers, and loafers with no socks. And their wives with their latest plastic surgery so they can 'look' the part too. It's NOT about the music; it's about the money, prestige, and hobnobbing with the other elitists and chat about Alan Chartock's latest rant and fundraiser on WAMC. Let's face it folks, the 60's generation that was 'against' everything are now the people your parents used to be. Sold out for the BMW and $60,000 SUV. Instead of fighting the hypocrisy they're all now part of it. "It's better to burn out, than to fade away"

I just wish they would all go home. |
