The striking musicians screwed themselves out of thousands of dollars and future work. I hope the DSO cancels the season instead of "suspending" the season, which means possible reinstatement.

Of course Bing haters will get behind the musicians who merely want to keep themselves in the news. I hope Bing carries on like they don't exist. I don't see this as a union busting issue because the DSO tried to settle many times and the union refused to bargain in good faith.

Bobb talked about many things in that article. The only tax issue involved a Headlee override so Detroiters, not state wide residents, could pay higher property taxes. Voters in Detroit, as dumb as they seem, are not going for that okie-doke after already paying the highest taxes around.

All that i saw in the article was...

the unions want taxes raised to save their jobs...

only for those who already pay them which excludes themselves of course.

I wonder where did this blunt disconnect with reality come from? Unions don't raise taxes, union do NOT get payed from taxes from everyone's paycheck, the money comes from union dues that members pay. If you don't want to be in the union? don't be in the union! but you have to give up the Collective Bargaining Agreement Rights and any other benefits.

Funny thing - most of the people bitching about unions still want to get the benefits that unions provide. It's like people protesting Medicare who ARE on Medicare.
