As a Black woman, I am offended by this!
My life is full of drugs, violence, and pregnancy? What? UH, thanks for letting me know? I certainly wasn't aware.
Drugs, violence and pregnancy are symptoms of POVERTY and not RACE. I don't know ANYONE (black or white) who grew up surrounded by these struggles BECAUSE of their race. It is true that minorities tend to be poorer (but I mean really, it takes a few generations to rise out of poverty regardless of race, and blacks especially have had recent handicaps) but in order to protect these girls we need to work at alleviating poverty for all! Making it a racial issue doesn't solve anything, in fact it makes it worse! This is how being black becames equated with being a victim.
This is so patronizing to all black women, and the idiots at the dispatch and the idiot researchers should be ashamed of themselves for perpetuating this stereotype!
Great post. Thank you for speaking the truth.

I have lived in the suburbs my whole life and now I raise my children in them and they go through the same things I did when i was younger, white people watching to much tv and the news judging us off of that, if we get to popular thier jealous our strenth scares them so its easier to put us in a catagory than to deal with us. when we have the same judgements about you, no you may not have a boom box but you rape and impregnate your children and rape and kidnap children, you beat and stalk your wives, you dont take baths and sleep with animals, you sleep with your families spouses, you have no loyalyty to anyone, your houses are always dirty, you let your boyfriends kill and rape your kids then you protect the boyfriends, need I say more, so trust me you all are not looking to good to us either. and if I can afford to live here next to you how poor and ghetto am I , most sex offenders live in the suburbs look it up.. so we rob and kill each other and you rape kids, and do more drugs than I ever seen done in the ghetto, also go to the welfare bldg one day you may be suprised and also look on the sex offender registry.
