All in Your Mind
The late Hobart Brown would undoubtedly approve. The upstairs bedrooms in the Ferndale Victorian that one housed his Hobart Galleries, along with his studio and living quarters, are once again full of art - the walls hung with paintings and more in progress on easels.

I can remember watching the 1970 Kenetic sculpture race from the upstairs bay windows of the Gazebo, where my husband(at the time)and I had a small leather shop called Eli Leather downstairs. Those were the days of artist bartering, and many leather items were traded for items we otherwise could not afford. Hobart was always the life of the party, and Halloween was always the best one. His upstairs was cutting edge for creative decorating and gave me inspiration on use of color, texture and space. Those were magical days of life and I am sorry that so many of Ferndale's most interesting folk and places are gone, but not the free spirit they generated or the memories!
