Painting

Kitsch or folk art, it's undeniably Bawlmer

Every window and even the jalousie door in Lil Sims' skinny Formstone-encased rowhouse in Canton has a screen that her baby brother painted.

This is and always be a reminder of my youth in Baltimore. My parents still have painted screens in thier windows. Thanks to all those who did and still do paint, keep up the good work.

This is the 2nd time I have seen an article on this. I purchased a motorhome with the sreen painted, I believe, Mr. Lipka's work. I get so many compliments on it. When I get rid of the motorhome the screen comes out and goes on a wall in my house. Thanks for trying to keep this art form alive.

Fascinating art form and well worth preserving. Johnny Eck, the "half man" who was in the old movie "Freaks" was also a screen painter in Baltimore - some of his paintings were quite nice.

Outstanding article. Screen painting is a stroke of pure genius that will ultimately stand the test of time. Oh, all the fun I'm missing by not being in Baltimore.

I was referred and then purchased a few screens from Dee Herget. Not only is she a FANTASTIC artist but a wonderful lady to speak with. I got perfect gifts for my parents. Four screens and a matching mailbox.

I hope more people will appreciate and commission this wonderful art.
