There is a great deal of sympathy here for William and Harry but their antics quite often make them appear spoilt and arrogant. Inevitable but not attractive.

I think italians excel in many things - and always have.

I am sorry to hear that William is turning into his father...unless it’s in the realm of organic farming...I also think he is a talented architect. I don't really think that the boys' antics are any different than their peers; it’s just that it’s widely reported. They really seem no worse that alot of kids today or even in my day when we went to the clubs and drank too much and got rowdy....Not that I think it great to do such a thing...I don't and admonish my own sons, but it happens.
I am not sure how I really feel about the royals Katy. There is so much tied into it...I keep thinking about how much revenue they generate by keeping potters, textile manufacturers, etc etc employed. In London it's explosive...with the grand hotels or even the smallest B & B busy with the tourist trade. To lose them would be a huge economic loss for alot of "little" businesses. How could the British economy flourish if everyone that was connected with the trade on the royals suddenly be sacked? The dole can only hold so many. Could you imagine the tax increases in an already taxed to death country? That is one of the reasons that I moved back to the states. It was just so bloody expensive to live there. I do miss England. I mean really miss it, but I don't think that I could go back to the lifestyle I enjoyed while living there on one income...I could never get Vin to go either....He really hates flying..so I couldn't even get him to come visit...
Oh on Anne, oh I really do love the fact that she is very earthy. Has a mouth like a sailor as I understand it. Doesn't take crap from anyone. I am telling you she is just like her mum and her grandmum. The Queen Mother was quite the pip in her day as well. Really hated and made it very well known she couldn't deal with Wallis Simpson.

The best thing I ever heard about the Queen Mother was that she used to refer to Prince Philip, in his presence,as "The Hun".

It is a strange existence for all of them. I certainly don't envy them Harry is the only one i feel sorry for however. No, that isn't quite true. I am old enough to remember charles as a very awkward young boy. It is just difficult to be sorry for him now with his peevishness and his moodiness. Ebven drives camilla mad we are told.

Jings poor Andrea sounds like we are pretty bemused at his loving abilities what a shame... I don't know however if I could put up with what Veronica has too in terms of people always wanting to paw my other half (personal experience of Pawing Andrea speaking here!) but I confess I have always felt her to be very distant a strange fish. Royals well, the impression of Harry and William is distinctly that they wouldnt be suitable to run much of anything.. We here a lot about what William does not want to do never anything about what he does want to do and he comes across as spolied and arrogant. Harry unfortunately thinks its ok to portray the British Army as topless mag reading, topless unkempt morons... Sorry but its a sad day when officers in the British Army turn up shirt off, underwear pulled over camoflague trousers, unshaved and being one of the lads... In the dessert nowhere near anywhere...distinctly luaghable if it wasnt so sad. Ann is a British bulldog and Charles needs someone to take the top of his boiled eggs!!! Well there you go and it won't be Camilla doing that! Its a privelaged household who know nothing of the realities of the common man.
Now back to Andrea, has anyone noticed a distinctly different type of connection with Andrea and Laura Pausini.... Have a look on you tube at the variations of him singing with her, particularly the one in the red dress and on GMTV and at the Theatro last year. Me thinks there is a little bit of chemistry going on there definatley... The way he touches her and responds to her in the red dress video here

GMTV here

Teatro here

Maybe i spend too much time Bocelli watching but seems to me something a little bit touchy feely going on here beyond the usual...(Sarah Brightman at least seems to patronise him a little less these days just a shame she has to sing with him at all.)

See what you think I would be interested to know.

Yes, there is chemistry and Andrea seems to get a kick out of her. Maybe they are just good friends. Sarah does patronize Andrea but this kind of affection on stage actually started with Sarah, which I think helped to overcome his stage fright, but I don't think andrea will have a knack for Sarah since he has already made it clear to us he is not into older women.

Hey ladies,
can you imagine me singing with Andrea on stage and caressing him like Sarah, and then suddenly stops singing right in the middle of an academy award duet, turns to me and tells me "bitch, stop it, I am tired of this shit" Oooooh!!! won't that be something? I know you ladies will get a kick out of this.

I think we discussed a while back the obvious rapport between Andrea and Laura Pausini but concluded that he would not be able to cope with a more mature woman.
Veronica knew the situation from the start. I can't help thinking that a sudden lack of attention from fans would worry her more.
Try as will Amy , I can't picture the scene you describe. Apart from anything else Andrea always seems to enjoy the attentions of his duet partners. Only some of his fans seem to be disturbed by it!

I have had two conflicting reports about the cost of living in London so maybe you could tell me which is accurate. My niece's husband who works for a very large, worldwide bank had an opportunity to work in the London office. He was ecstatic when he learned what he would be paid. Then he checked out the cost of flats and decided his raise just wouldn't provide him with the lifestyle he was used to. This is a childless, one income couple living in a lovely condo on the trendy, upper west side of Manhattan. They decided to stay put in NYC.

Then a friend recently returned from a two week vacation, mostly in London. He checked out the classified adds to see what plumbers, electricians and truck drivers make - converted pounds to dollars - and felt salaries in the trades were in the same ball park as here. He checked out the prices of good from electronics to clothing and felt, again, the same ballpark figures. He did not check out the price of housing but felt as he drove out of the city and into some of the suburbs that the houses looked like ours though more stone than wood, with yards and garages. He saw large vehicles, SUV's, just like here though gas was about $6.50 and here it is around $4.00 He said he went into a suburban grocery store - I think it was called something like Sedesco (?) and said this was the largest store he had ever been in. In fact, he was even taking a picture of the cereal aisle - never knew there was so many different cereals on this planet - when he was stopped by a security guard. He said people were pushing along carts filled with mountains of food pretty much like here in the States.

Maybe the tax rate is higher, but isn't education and health free so, by comparison, perhaps Londoners have more discretionary money.

So Katie, why do you feel you can do better here?

There are a number of reasons Gert, just the fact I could never afford my home in Cheltenham. I am sure that Katy or Simone will concur that Cheltenham is a lovely place, but very expensive. I had a very lovely 3 bedroom semi detached with garage and greenhouse. It sat across the street from playing fields.(A park). Oh why do people think the health care is free...no people pay for it...its deducted from your paycheck. Now try getting anything done on National Health. You will wait for months. You are free to choose private health care, but it is very dear.(Costs a fortune). If I was on National Health I would still be waiting for my knee replacement. They do emergency surgery of course but if it is not an emergency you have to wait and it could be months. Now when your friend is talking about the gas prices is he saying that gas in the UK is about 6.50 did you assume it was dollars? It sound like it should be in pounds and that would be in liters. They don't have gallons like we do or the gallons that they do have are imperial like Canada. Gas was already outrageous when I was living there. The fact that there were SUV's in the drive doesn't really mean anything as the public transport system is usually how people get around. Parking is a nightmare in London, it Cheltenham it was expensive at best. The English don't live in their cars like us Americans. Even though we had a lovely Ford Escort, I took the bus everywhere. There was one at the stop every 15 minutes; I also used my bike for small trips. The education system varies as to where you live. There were always concerns about the state of the school system when I was there. If I was living alone there I would be taxed at if I am not mistaken at 30% of my income. Mountains of food from Tesco's maybe they had a large family. I know that I went shopping most days. I was not a big fan of the mega supermarket. I knew my butcher by name. I knew the girls in the bakery. My milk came from the milkman. Why am I better here? I don't always know that I am. But I hold my licenses (professional not driving..lol) in this country. I would have to be retested in the UK, my immediate family is here. Zak may move back over in a couple of years but until then he is here. I know for fact I could never afford the home I lived in the UK again. I always knew that the prices for most things in the UK were more expensive then the states as I usually went shopping for the kids clothes stateside. Customs never really thought anything of the "yanks" with American goods. The American customs were more interested in my English woolen goods. So that is why I can’t go back yet Gert. That and I don’t think I can get Vin to go.

I love the way you explain things katie!
Yes, i think you have covered it all.

I always have trouble explaining to american friends that an education ,even a profession does not necessarily mean a high income here.

House prices are now totally ridiculous.
It is always difficult to compare the cost of living in different places . You really need someone like Katie who has lived in both countries
Its worse nowadays Katie!

Cheltenham is ,inded ,alovely place.

I like Cheltenham a great deal too, although I think that it's quite cheap compared to places closer to London these days!

Friends of ours recently sold a 2 bed flat in London (the second bedroom of which was just large enough to swing a smallish cat (not that I am advocating any such activity, I should explain, in case anyone should take offence at the idea) for almost £1 million (somewhere in the region of $2 million). Totally ridiculous indeed.

How are property prices in the Frozen North, Katy? I understand that the gap has closed somewhat between north and south.

I like the fact that you have a foot in both camps, as it were, Katie. American, but with enough experience of life in the UK to bridge the cultural gap for us on occasion!

Simone about Carry's remark about Andrea's public displays of affection....Is Mr S the same way?
I would describe Mr S as quite tactile in public (not just with me, but with friends too), but never in an intimate way, if that makes sense. He is very reserved when out and about. I suppose it must just be difficult to judge what is and is not acceptable if one doesn't see what others are doing.

Vin has always been VERY concerned about what is appropriate behaviour in public. I remember we were at a concert once and we had a picnic on a blanket and such,(it was very romantic) he lied down and I suggested he put his head in my lap...he thought that was terrible and what would people think. I told him it would be fine as long as he was facing up....lol...I was wondering how Mr S was.
This story made me laugh, Katie. Poor Vin! I hope you managed to allay his fears of appearing inappropriate.

Oh my gosh I haven't heard that expression in ages......is that like cat juggling? Didn't Monty Python do a sketch about swinging a cat or was it cat juggling or both? I think I remember Eric Idle swinging a cat dressed as a women. When we sold the house we got just over 200,000 pounds....that was about 6 years ago....I can't imagine what it would go for now...

Im not disturbed by it, at all, it is fasinating to watch his interaction with the various duet partners. He seems to have a nice one with kathy mcfee too! But nothing compared Laura, I reakon she takes him out his comfort zone and he actually enjoys it.

They look like they would make a very wonderful couple...It appears she has his number......and knows how to use it...That is one thing about the blind, they have no concept for the most part about body language...If I were Veronica I might be worried..He is known not to be faithful....ask
Enrica....or so the stories go.... I can't believe I said all that. Must be the drugs....

Who do I ask? I think I'll ask you! I have never heard credible rumors about his being unfaithful to anyone except those ridiculous stories he tells himself regarding Marica. Hat's off to him if he could ever manage such a thing. He would be more "normal" than I give him credit for. I haven't watch this video but it sounds like a good one. When there's chemistry, it just shows. I think he would enjoy having a woman with enough smarts to have the flirtatious upper hand - someone he could really respect and not just use or "protect", in the ballpark of his age. How interesting.

Yes, but also in him book he remarked on what a "bad boy" he was. He didn't make the connection on love and sex until he had a girlfriend cheat on him. I guess that it was OK for the male to have an number of lovers but wifes and girlfriends must remain faithful. Also didn't he mention being interested in a flight attendant but his mentor "reminded him he was married?"

I don't know why it would be surprising...He was a good looking musician. I am sure there were lots of local groupies that could be had. I am sure that his friends would have encouraged him.
The chemistry between those two is electric...It seemed that way to me on a number of occasions when they sing. It is written all over his face. Simone, Katy and I talked about this a while back. I don't know if Simone and I notice it more as we are use to reading faces or what but its there.

Oh that was all nonsense and bravado set in the context of preposterous circumstances. If that is all there is to these rumors, I am more convinced than ever that this guy would never stray, He wants comfort, predictability and image - not adventure and sexual conquest although that is what he would like you to believe.
