I read both books by John Perkins and found them, especially the one we are discussing, to be books that you can't put down till you get to the end. Perkins touches on the readers moral side as well as making the reader have to step back and question the practices of our government.

Please do not misunderstand me. We live in the best country there is. We have opportunities and FREEDOM which often times, many take for granted. With that said, sometimes we pay no mind to how others in far away places are suffering because of the practices that our own government uses and maybe it is time that we look beyond our front door. In the end, the results from looking away may come to haunt us.

I highly recommend this book. At the least, the reader may try to prove Perkins wrong and in the process learn something he/she otherwise may never have taken notice of.

Great comment, Lisa!

Reading this book has made me think a lot, specially after a recent trip to South America. Trying to be cautious and avoid disinformation (by the way, I just read "Unspun", another recommendable book), I am still in search of the veracity and trustworthiness of Perkins'words. Re: "Un-spun" Sorry...I did not mention the authors: Brooks Jackson and Kathleen Hall Jamieson, founders of FactCheck.org

From their ad: "UnSpun is about how to recognize and avoid deception, not just in politics but in commercial advertising and life in general. In it, the reader is told how to debunk the malarkey for yourself, and get down to facts." I also think everybody should be a FactChecker.
