Wow. I gotta say, after seeing this production and reading this review, it appears to me that the author has a chip on his shoulder. Not being a fan of musicals, I thought this show was mild, entertaining at times, relatively harmless and sometimes fun theatre. I do not understand the vindictive nature of this review. I will admit that I have been singing some of the songs in the days since I saw the Sunday performance. Now, while that is often the mark of a good musical, well, I am not a fan of musicals, so, not so good for me. But there they are, stuck in my head.
I also wonder if Mr. Johnson has spent much time in the world of aldermanic and ward politics, because all the cliche's he refers to are right there, at every political function, living up to thier cliche'ness.
