Slowly, steadily, privatization of public schools is occurring. Perhaps privatization is the founding myth of America. Brief was the existence of the "citie upon a hill." Darkening is the hope that government is a shield from, rather than a sword of self-interest.

The concert, which raised about $4,500......

Drugs and alcohol costing this state BILLION'S OF $$$$$$$$$$S for court cost, drug and alcohol related crimes and cost to house prisoners. Hawaiian's need to educate Hawaiian's not to waste their lives on ice and to show them life has more meaning to it than getting high.

$4500.00 is like collecting can's from the garbage when there is unlimited piles of money right in front of you.

80% of prisoners are Hawaiian's. Something wrong there.

The DOE misuses the educational funds and the fringe programs get hit with a lack of funds. Then the community, students, and teachers get together to conduct a campaign to produce funds through some kind of benefit and the taxpaying public who already are paying into the $2.3 billion educational budget are asked to cough up more dollars to keep the program alive. This is the same old story repeated over and over again in Hawaii. Just examine the DOE budget and you will find many areas of waste that can be used to divert any shortfalls that many of the fringe programs are expierencing. Even our State auditor, Marion Higa was blocked in her effort to audit the DOE. Hawaii people are taxed and do not grumble. This is why a government agency like the DOE has continued to spend the tax dollars without any checks.

This is only a piecemeal effort. We must correct the BIG PICTURE and that is EXAMINE THE DOE STRUCTURE of WASTEFUL SPENDING.

I think this is good..let parents raise money for their child's schools. Since parents do not want to tax themselves to raise money for the schools, the only other way is through donations.

Back then, when there were no funds in the educational budget to buy science text books, the DOE put on a SHIBAI for help. Once again the DOE is facing a shortfall, but this should not happen because the $2.4 billion dollars is more than enough to support the educational programs that are in existence today. The DOE is crying "WOLF" and the public sector is responding again. How many times are we going to help this culprit. It is about time we use our energy to go after this culprit that uses the "WOLF" tactic to decieve the taxpaying public.

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Libra

If you're invited to a party or gathering today and you don't know whether to go, you should. You'll have a terrific time and you might meet someone who always makes your knees go weak. Even if it's a perfectly harmless flirtation and you're both happily committed to other people, it will still do your ego good to have a tantalizing conversation with this person.
