chair rail

I understand that chair rails should be no higher than 36" from the floor.
In my kitchen, the chairs are really banging up the wall but it's at 43".
How bad would it look if we put a chair rail up at 43"?
What if it's the same color as the wall?
Does that help?

You might want this line to go around the kitchen. You can change the use of it depending on its location. Line it up with a towel rail. A rail for cooking tools etc. Making it the same color as your walls will work, when it's white. If not you will have a hard time getting the very same color. Better to be completely off than almost matching. Good luck!
