I think this is a terrible idea. Using water taxis, a miniscule fraction of the public will go out there. They won't have the convenience of their cars to carry beach chairs, coolers, etc. They won't go out there on a whim like the way people pass thru seaside or beardsley.
With a tiny fraction of the public out there, the facilities out there will be underused, whatever they may be.

Also in the article and very disturbing: they are talking about building snack concessions and public bathrooms. Well, just when the bridge was purposely burned in the staged arson, there were BRAND NEW bathrooms and a concession stand. What happened to those? Did Bridgeport drop the ball for the millionth time and let the spawn of their public schools vandalize these facilities?

Repair the swing bridge or forget it. You will get a few hundred people a year at most to use the water taxis. For millions of dollars spent. BTW, there is no parking available on the mainland for the public. The bill to repair the bridge was said to be 30 million dollars. This is pure fiction. It could be done for a couple million.

Once again, the rudderless democratic machine wastes your tax dollars! Hurray!!!

How about we find out which city officials ordered the arson?

It's a horrible idea... Even if they did have a bridge, what kind of people is this place going to attract???? I can't see too many people wanting to drive through the ghetto's to get to this place...

This study was a waste of money. Don't people in the mayor office have brains? There are many city employees who could come up with the same ideas. Get the money for the bridge first, before anything is build on the island.
