Thank you for this great piece. Much appreciate the Skinner's sharing their story and FABULOUS collections. They are really talented in turning their finds into major interior art. I really understand about collecting. I have been going to tag sales and thrift shops my entire life.I feel that they offer a glimpse of what items our society uses, gives up and reuses. My collections are not as focused, but I love them just the same. I have recently started a blog devoted to such endeavors, if you are interested, please check it out:

Interesting article. I wouldn't want to dust all that stuff but the pictures are proof they keep it all neat, organized and clean.

Very interesting, I sell my collectibles acquired at tag and garage sales on Ebay to pay my Oil Bill as do many people,this couple lives in Water Mill so guess they can afford to keep them,must be nice,just paid close to $800 for almost full tank of oil!

Great collection! Reminds me of the Landes (sp?) Brothers farm museum in Pennsylvania.
