The UB Law new Art Gallery is kind of unique. They've taken the major corridor between the large law school lobby and the corridor that leads to the Dean's Suite and converted one very long expanse of wall that is at least 60 feet long and well over 8' high to hang paintings.

The artist has hung about 20 mostly rather large pieces -- mostly oil but some really intriguing large charcoal drawings. You would think that presenting so many pieces in one space so close together would be too cluttered but surprisingly it isn't. To the contrary, it is rather dramatic.
This is an interesting showcase of the artist's work, Sangram Majumdar -- who teaches at MICA and is fairly well-known in the art community. The closeness of the paintings and drawings pull you to look from one to the next -- each painting wetting your appetite for the next which is right there.

They did the same thing with the previous artist, Anita Philyaw -- which was quite different -- but still this closeness in pieces worked well for the same reason.

There is an interesting large piece out in the Lobby right next to the corridor entrance to signal what you are about to see. It is to the left of the entrance, so be sure not to miss that.

The lighting is not ideal and the corridor -- though quite wide -- could be wider for this purpose -- but the warmth and flow makes it a pleasant experience to drop by on your way to the Charles or Everyman Theater. 20 minutes to half an hour will probably do it.
