Great article! Part of the problem is the snooty Manhattanite attitude. They think that their ugly city is the 'center of the universe'. Not..A large part of US history happened on Long Island, we need to stop building malls, and educating our kids re culture, not pop, but art and music, if it's not too late!PS. Make high school graduation contingent on passing music/arts courses, not girl's field hockey.
