Macau, June14 - Bollywood veteran Rajesh Khanna was at his dramatic best when he received the life time achievement trophy at the International Indian Film Academy- awards here from his 'Anand' co-star Amitabh Bachchan late Saturday night.

Khanna, who featured in hits like 'Aradhana','Kati Patang' and 'Amar Prem' in his four-decade long career, kept referring to Big B as 'babumoshai', in the manner in which he addressed Bachchan in their 1971 heartwarming hit 'Anand'.

It took me 40 years and 180 films to get this IIFA Life time Achievement award-along journey I must say.I am very grateful to IIFA,- Wizcraft, committee members and babumoshai.Babumoshai, thank you very very much,'Khanna said in his acceptance speech.

It is after 16 years later that we are together on a stage.I thank him from the bottom of myheart,'he added.

Khanna, 66,also belted dialogues from his famous films to entertain the audience. And he even appreciated Bachchan's successful journey in his professional life.

Life should be big, not necessarily long, and my babumoshai is living lifebig-living life kingsize.- from where to where he has reached in so many years. We started with? Anand'and today we are on this platform. He is very dear to me, he is my babumoshai,'hesaid.

Khanna received a standing ovation from industry members as well as the audience.

Whatever I am, I am because of you, my audience. My audience members, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian-every one was responsible to make me an actor to a star to a superstar to what I am today.Thank you all,'hesaid.

In the past, IIFA has awarded Bollywood stalwarts like Waheeda Reham, Asha Parekh, Yash Chopra, Dharmendra, Mumtaz and others for their contribution to Indian cinema.

Balram and Abhijit,
You should also patch up and leave all the hard feelings between both of you. Common guys, learn from your idols. Show some spirit.

Rajesh Khanna "kowtow" to AB and his cohorts.

Even though it came out off Rajesh Khanna mouth, we knew that statement is "false" and only "political correct". Stage one only for AB, but Rajesh before "Anand" had already delivered Aradhana, Do Raaste, Inteffaq, Kati Patang, Safar, Saacha Jhuta, Aan Milo Sajna, Bhandan, Haathi Mere Saathi, The Train etc.

Is he making up with the entertainment mafia?

Radzi--My advice for what it's worth--not that anyone takes it anyway. Stop seeing the 5th leg of the cat in everything. It was an award, he's an emotional guy with a flair for drama, so he played to the audience. Haven't seen the video but all the reporting said that he got a standing ovation and that the highlight of the awards evening on Day 3 was his segment. They played it up for the audience, both he and AB. Then they'll probably go their own ways and won't see each other for the next 10 years. For the moment, all's hunky dory and everyone's happy.

I don't care whether IIFA is AB's baby, brand, whatever. I'm just happy that after a very long time out of the limelight, we his fans, are seeing Kaka getting some attention again whether it's because he's one of the highest tax payers in Bollywood, or Aashirwad is going to be a museum or the IIFA award, at least he's getting the eyeballs again. I just wish he'd capitalized on it more, dressed up for the occasion (NOT in orange), etc. but hey I'm shallow. Would've been nice to see him hit all the others including AB out of the park, which he easily can if he wanted to. Instead, there's a bunch of snarky stuff out there saying his daughter (Twinkle who's got great taste apparently) should advise him on his clothes. Which brings me to my next point, why didn't Kaka's daughters go to IIFA to be with their dad on his big night? I'm beginning to dislike them....

Still I am not clear about this 16 years (?)affair. As per my knowledge goes after Nasib (80s) this is first time we found both in a common platform.

May be they shared the same stage 16 years back for a common cause either for film industry or at political rally.Thats what I understood from it.

Whatsoever it may be, it is not our knowledge. However, Maini Bhai, I have just today sent a congratulation letter on our behalf to Kakaji, if possible, please acknowledge our Congratulations via your good friend at Mumbai. Thanks,

Rajesh Khanna to be present at this function signifies that he is the master of his own thoughts...The personal rivalry that we fans have been building up was non-existent...It was upto AB to include Kaka in this fanfare....and Kaka obliged...It never appeared from the speech (what is read from reports) that Kaka was kowtowing AB....

Read these lines....
Life should be big, not necessarily long, and my babumoshai is living life big - living life king size.(Look) from where to where he has reached in so many years. We started with 'Anand’ and today we are on this platform. He is very dear to me, he is my babumoshai," he said.

"We started with Anand and today we are on this platform...." that sums it up.....The professional rivalry far from over.....

The rivalry between do existed at a small spurt of time. It may not be that huge nor that long as what highlighted by the media. Thus it is not wise to keep it forever.

The real culprit are the mafia & the mafia controlled media. I doubt RK will be successful with them.

One fact is apparent with this grand event that GENUINE TALENT CAN NOT BE IGNORED BY MANIPULATION.

Mr. Raj Chamcha: Amit is the self promotor of this event since last 10 yrs. for himself and his family members and it has been blamed that this is his family function; in spite of that this year also his son and daughter in law got awards; under which ethics or rules best known to you and your fraud amitji(?). You should appreciate that honouring Kaka, the First Superstar at its golden decade event glorified the function due to gracious presence of Kaka on the iifa stage.

Glorifying a veteran actor is already there right from the beginning- be it Dilip Saab/Saadhnaji/Feroz Khan/ Dharmendra and now RK.
Awarding Abhishek and Aishwariya is there because of the fact that they are actor by profession. and no where it has been written that an actor can never be a family person..

Oops I am sorry , I forget that tu gattar ka paidaish hain tu kya samjhega family kya hota hain.

You are absolutely an Idiot. Glorifying by others and by Kaka at Golden decade event differ much. Further, you should know that any organizing body has its ethics that no family member of its office bearer can partipate or won awards etc. from the organization body itself. Then how Lambu's son or daughter in law or he himself get awards from iifa??????????

You something more than an idiot.
The point u are referring is valid for jury members not for organising body.
