A true cat lover does not add to the problem of overpopulation which causes millions of cats to be euthanized each year. If she really loved cats, she would rescue one from an animal shelter.

If this Lynne was so inspired finding a stray when she was 8..well..What happened to the thought of rescuing these poor homeless cats that are everywhere..She chooses to breed and cause more homeless..unwanted cats..I am curious to know what these two young girls are wearing around their necks? I am sure that live cat in the pic.knows what they are wearing..For shame..It makes me cry to see articles and pictures like this..What sort of message are we sending our young people..I don't believe this article was necessary..and on the Sunday paper no less..What a crying shame..

I agree with the other people that there are so many cats already in shelters that need homes. Do we really need to be breeding more?? I have always adopted from shelters and taken in strays that needed homes. They make the best pets and always have the best dispositions. What are those girls in the photo wearing around their necks? Some type of fur? Yuck!!

Article was better than reading about Illegals, Molesters, Drug Arrests, DUI's, Hillary, Obama, McCain, Edwards, haters, and what ever other hanis crimes we read about. I didn't see that she has any problems providing for the animals herself - didn't sound like it was a cat mill opposed to a puppy mill...

Good for her.

The title of the article itself is an oxymoron!

Responsible breeders are not the problem - most of the nation's cat overpopulation comes from feral cats and people who forget to spay and neuter their pets. Less than 2% of all cats are pedigreed cats.
While overpopulation is an important factor, it is the uncontrolled matings of feral cats and the unplanned reproduction of free roaming pet cats which need to be the focus. The numbers of cats of a recognizable breed found in shelters is negligible to extremely low in proportion to that of cats which are random bred, homeless, feral and/or unweaned kittens.
Many of the clubs who sponsor these shows raise large amount of $$ to help with cat rescue and controlling feral population, as well as spay/neuter education.
