Hello, Would love to perform in the naked ballet again. Have not been in nude ballet for short time now. My company as you say has moved on, and me having other obligations could not continue as such. Have begun, ballet again, but only locate partly nude rehearsal or practice, no nude performance group yet. Girl and male have no top costume.

Natasha, please check out some of my ballet The Garden of Earthly Delights on YouTube. Start with part 3. If you are interested I would be interested in your ideas for a work for a small group of dancers. I have a wrk for cello and dancer that is about 10 minutes. It would work well with the dancer being nude. You can find this work - with the cello soloist only (no dancer)- on YouTube as well. It is an English soloist and quite good. Nude ballet is a pure porn action. People watch it only for masturbation. It is not an art. If you believe porn is an art then nude ballet is an art.

I used to perform with a female partner in a burlesque show. Obviously, this was not either of our career ambitions. Both of us had received extensive ballet training. As you might guess we were required to perform in g-strings. We really never paid much attention to this. We just figured that if this is what we have to wear to perform then whatever! We both loved to dance and we knew what we were getting into. I had previously gotten a small part in a greek ballet called Clymenestra where I was required to wear a g-string. I was admittedly uncomfortable especially with family in the audience. Fact is, is that male nudity in ballet is not all uncommon. I never had to be fully nude though. Again, I never thought much of showing my rear as I began wearing a dance belt at 12. The girls and anyone else can pretty much see right through your tights so I just got used to it. Its just part of dance. People can go to Vegas and see plenty of g-string clad male and female dancers. It is unfortunate that producers and choreographers feel that this is necessary to sell tickets but I guess thats what they feel people want to see. Todays young male and female dancers should know that there is a strong possibility that they may be asked to perform either fully nude or in a g-string.

Natasha, I also began going back to ballet classes again and am loving every minute of it. I guess my dance career never really went in the direction I wanted it to. Are you seriously considering that Mexico City guys invitation? If he is looking for a male performer then I would be interested. I could care less about performing in the nude.

Ballerina, sorry for late posts. I had to laugh a bit about your short take on the one guy in your dance class. I am a former ballet dancer and it seems I was always the lone dude in the class. It has always been that way so I was used to it.

Think in this way.... Why are nude paintings and sculptures so popular and acceptable thoughout the western art history? Therefore, what is the fuss about nude ballet?

Your right! You always see sculptures and whatnot of people in the nude. I recall having to perform in a senior dance project in college. I had to perform a really sexy dance sequence with one of the girls. I had to perform this particular number while wearing only my dance belt. Needless is to say "I was glad I was wearing it". Once I got into burlesque then you just get used to it. Still, I am not sure what the point of doing ballet rehearsals in the nude would serve other than just being perverted. If a certain role required it then fine! Dancers, both male and female tend to be pretty liberal with stuff like this. I guess thats a good thing.

I just met this week with the original producer of my ballet "The Garden of Earthly Delights" (which can be seen on YouTube - but not totally nude) and we are looking at the possibility of another performance in March 2010. This time we will do it like the Bosch painting... nude!

IF (and it is a big if at this time - we are just making the request to the government and they will not decide until March of 2009) it all works out and is approved then we will be looking for experienced dancers. Keep in contact. Leroy Osmon/ composer - Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico.
